  • CNG in Australia

    Hi Guys

It's been a while, but I thought it was time to update what we have been doing in Oz.
We recently opened the first public access CNG service station in Australia. It is in a suburb of Melbourne, and we are in negotiations with service station operators to open four more within the next 12 months.
We had to buy a service station to get this first one off the ground, but we believe that it is essential that CNG be seen as a mainstream fuel and therefore should be available with the other fuels and not isolated in a CNG-only site. We have set it up so that customers can pay by cash, card or account.
Our selling price is 72cents per kg (equal to $US1.16 gge).
We are close to completing the development work on our VRA. We should have the final version of the control module signed off on by mid-August, and then we will be in the hands of the regulator to license the unit (how long is a piece of string - or a government agency's processes?).
    The unit will be available in 3 versions - 4m3/hr (1.2gge), 6m3/hr (1.8gge) and 11m3/hr (3.0gge).
I'll keep you posted as we have more news.

Take some pictures of the station for us! It's always nice to see what is being talked about ..

Sorry if I'm Hijacking your post.
This would be the key to getting cng into the mainstream in the US. People seeing cars next to them filling up for 40% less $$$. Having a car dealer leave a new model on display ( like they have in front of some costco or sams clubs) would do wonders too.

It's taken a while, but the photos are finally up on our website - oes.net.au and click on photographs. We are getting a lot of interest with another OEM (Iveco) releasing a full range of CNG truck options yesterday.

Put www. in front of the oes.net.au and it comes up fine. Or just click here: http://www.oes.net.au Not too many pictures though.
