  • older GX & new Owner

We just got an older GX but the Owners manual doesn't have any specific GX filling instructions. I found the information below:

"Back one step. Since you've never done this before, let's make sure you know how the nozzle works. You have to turn the lever 1/4 turn one way, put the nozzle all the way on the receptacle, then move the lever 1/2 turn the other way until it locks. You should hear a small rush of gas. Then you turn the pump on and it dispenses more gas. "

I might try filling it up this weekend but don't want to blow anything up. Didn't see any Sticky re: the process. Are there instructions at the CE station?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Almost all dispensers have complete instructions on how to operate the nozzle. If not, I am sure someone at the station can help you. If you don't fully understand the instructions, don't start filling until you get help. You must lock the nozzle in place, fill, vent and release--pretty straightforeward and simple once you have done it. Congrats on your new GX

thanks siai47, I will probably just take it down there and see if it works/makes sense. If not "I'll Be Back" as Arnold would say!

Indeed there are several different setups for fueling. Don't worry about making a mistake -- they are all foolproof and just won't work if you do things in the wrong order. Unless you're in Utah where we've heard reports that doing things in the wrong order can break the dispenser.

Some stations have an instructional video you must watch, then they give you a 2 digit PIN code. The nozzles that just have a handle on the side are fairly simple, turn counter-clockwise and attach it, the rotate it 180 degrees clockwise. The warning on my local pump say to make sure nozzle is firmly attached or it will disconnect with great force. If it does not feel right, it is not attached properly. The other type have a fitting similar to air hoses, a snap type, and a vent valve. Once you get it figured out you will enjoy fueling!

Thanks to all who responded! My local station has the pump with the video and with the help of a nice lady at the next pump it all went well (and only cost $11.20 to fill up!)

Stations around Tulsa didn't have instructions you could read, but it was easy and worked out. It is a bit scary the first time you pen that valve tho.
