  • Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone. I just got licensed by Honda to sell Honda Civic GXs to retail customers in will hopefully be the Washington DC area.

I am very excited to be taking on this endeavor and to learn more about Alternative fuels, and the people that are interested in them.

I would love to hear anyone's experiences buying these cars and getting fill units installed. What was good about it, and what was bad about it. We are going to have dealership representatives doing all the unit install.

I really want to give my customers the best experience. I have so much admiration for people that are early adopters of this technology, and outside of a business stand point, as a person I want to make sure they are happy.

Hope all is going well for every body

    Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the forum. Curtis is a site admin and sells GX's at a Southern CA dealer. He posts frequently, as do a lot of other knowledge people. In fact, I bet you can find the answer to just about any CNG related question if you do a Google search on this site.

Just from the way you spelled Phill (fill), I would suggest reading the Fuelmaker website and learning about their different vehicle refueling appliances (e.g., Phill vs. FMQ). Phill may not be the best solution for every CNG owner. Good luck!

      Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome aboard. Too bad more dealers don't come here for a better education. You'll learn about the whole cng situation, rather than just about the car on our website.

I would suggest that the first thing to do is spend a lot of time reading these forums. Every question any customer will ever ask you about ngv's is contained herein. Experts from every facet of the natural gas industry lurks our hallowed halls. The majority of members here own one form of cng vehicle or another and have, by association, become experts themselves.

If a customer asks a question that you haven't found an answer to yet, we'll be glad to help. Just remember to post in the relevant forum and stay on-topic as best you can. Go into your Personal CP and subscribe to any forum you feel will help you, ie Conversions, Civic GX, Curt's Corner, etc. Even my Service Techs jump in and hunt down possible solutions to mechanical issues they run into. We've seen (or heard about) pretty much every issue you can imagine. Feel free to turn on your cng tech/svs writer onto the group. It will save them a lot of time once they start tackling some of these cng related repairs.

If you study alternative fuels in general you will be better prepared for the type of customers you will be dealing with. They're educated, they do their research, crunch the numbers and have a million questions. They want to know about conversions, lpg vrs cng, you name it... they'll hit you with it sooner or later. Read, read read. This forum is the most educational spot on the web for the answers you'll be asked. Good luck and keep reading.

Here's the program I was referring to:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Clean School Bus USA program provides regional funding opportunities for school buses. To learn more, find your regional EPA office on the EPA Web site and contact it to find out when a regional solicitation will be issued.

DC_GXDealer, it is good to know that you are coming soon. I live in Maryland, and have been waiting for a local dealer. Do you know what your dealership name will be yet? Thanks,

              Andy

I've never heard of a non-franchised Honda Dealer selling Honda's. I'm very interested in finding out how you managed this. Please, tell me the story.

                  Andy-
The dealership is Ourisman Honda in Bethesda, MD. You can contact me at 301-592-7557. My name is Ben Ourisman
                  Curtis-
We had to get an ammendment to our dealer agreement with Honda to sell these vehicles. That's what I meant when I said we got licensed. Our dealership url is www.ourismanhonda.com, but I'm making a site specifically for Alt Fuel vehicles we are selling. I don't have it completed yetas I'm still waiting on some of the content, but you can check out what I have so far here:

Thanks, Ben...I am familiar with your dealership. I was thrown off a bit by the DC handle. I believe that you will be the first retail dealership in Maryland?
