I live in Norman, OK. I finally bought a 2001 Cavalier. 32 mpg and $1.14 gas and fill station six blocks from my house. What took me so long? Life is not too bad.

Re: New member
Yahooty,
I used to live in Norman in the early 80's during boom time when Elk City was "tent city" and the north base (Westheimer) was a mostly abandoned airfield (we used to race karts on the runway) and you could still swim in Lake Dirtybird. I haven't been through there in twenty years but I assume it's as grown and crazy as OKC.
I drove thru OKC twice last month and can't tell when it starts and ends anymore. It used to go from Tinker to Mac Arthur, Wilshire to 240 with an actual gap between Moore and OKC.Last edited by cnghal; 08-21-2008, 11:50 AM.Your Friendly Nazi Squirrel Administrator

Re: New member
Norman is now the third largest city with over 100,000. It was 30,000 when you lived here. There is very little gap between Moore and Norman( 1/4 mile each side of Indian Hill rd.) The West side is where all the rich live( brookhaven). I live two blocks north of the campus and walk to ballgames in ten minutes. Downtown still has the small town atmosphere along with campus corner. I have lived here since the 1978 and like it. The airport is now the busiest university airport in the nation. Norman was voted sixth as one of the top small cities in the nation because of atmosphere and lower real estate prices.

Re: New member
I used to live just north of campus and walked everywhere. Racquetball under the stadium bleechers, hoops in the fieldhouse and crawled home from O'Connell's way too many nights. I guess on my next trip east I'm going to have to stop and tour the town. Maybe take in a Sooner's game if they're home.Your Friendly Nazi Squirrel Administrator
