  • YIPPPPPEEEE we got our car Yesterday

So with my Hybrid at 90k we desperately needed a new car and the ability to get an access sticker. My wife has an 80mile commute to and from work. Desperately looking for a NGV...Curt guided me to the two dealers that might have one available. We were able to get one in 7 days with obviously a mark up on the Sticker Price.

Black/Grey and it is really Nice.

We are in Irvine, ca and are debating if a Phil Unit is worth it....we have a cng station in Irvine. I know the stations price is 2.99....taking the Phil costs out..what is the actual cost of GAS at home.....

    Will post some pictures soon....

and yes Hybrid sold for a Good Price.....

    Thanks Curt for your help

I can't promise buying a Phill will be profitable, but you can't beat the convenience. I can guarantee you'll get tired of visiting that station every day, and you'll curse the days it's down or doesn't give enough of a fill for the next day's commute.

Wait for the 2009s at this time. I have talked to two dealers who 'agreed' to sell at MSRP for the new cars coming in Oct/Nov. Of course, they could change thier mind but I suspect they wont.

I dont like being lied to and the last dealer who lied to me ended up writting me a check to make it right.

Congratulations. I actually bit the bullet and put the $500 deposit on the 2009 Civic. I was assured that the price would be the manufacturers suggested retail price. Any thoughts on what might happen to our price in 6-8 months and why CA is so much higher? We can we do to keep that from happening in Utah?

Glad to be part of the group.

In CA a two year used Civic Hybrid with 50k miles and an HOV sticker is selling for 25k plus...The prius for 28k plus..and this is two years old. So our options are limited. My Hybrid had 70k plus and still sold for a high price.

If you have to commute and HOV sticker and gas prices are of concern and value than a 2-3k premium is well worth it.

What I have started to Hate though is the the CLEAN Fuel High Priced Stations. There should be a law governing CNG prices...

CNG at home using Phill is $1.50 a gallon if you get on Socal Gas' NGV option. Otherwise, it depends upon how much you use each month (it can be more, it can be less). But, that's only part of the cost.

Phill runs 6,000 hours before requiring a retrofit, and delivers .42 gallons per hour. That's 2,520 gallons.

I paid $2,200 for my Phill and $1,800 for installation. After 6,000 hours, I can get a retrofitted Phill for $2,000 plus $375 for installation. Total cost for 12,000 hours (5,040 gallons) is $6,375. Thus, the hardware cost of the Phill is $1.26 a gallon.

I know I've left out the electricity cost and there may be a shipping charge on the Phill retrofit. Bottom line is that filling your CNG vehicle using a Phill costs at least $2.76 a gallon if you take the retrofit option. Compared to $2.99 at CE, its a good deal. If CE CNG goes up with gas (as it has in the past), the bargain could be even better.

When I factor in the value of my time (the nearest station to my house is 8 miles away and I need to fill-up twice a week it seems), the Phill becomes a great choice.

I got my car about a month ago and paid sticker. The charging over sticker thing is a fad that will be short lived. There's been a momentary demand for fuel efficient cars because of the spike in gas prices. Once the market runs out of people who can afford to run and spend $20,000 on a new car just to save 20% on their monthly gasoline bill, the prices will settle back down. Also, if the demand continues, Honda will likely up production and the increased supply will bring prices back down.

How can my husband and I get one of the new Civics here in Indiana? According to the Honda website, the nearest dealer is in New York state.

                    Any ideas?

Has anyone had any experience with the Eco-Fueler home fueling appliance?

It may be a good option, afterall it was born out of desperation and frustration with home re-fueling units.

Anyone have an opinion on whether this is a viable option. I have a 2009 Civic GX on order and looking to get an FMQ for $9800.. If I bought this roadster and received a refueler for no extra charge the cost of the roadster CNG would be around $10K.

Anyone know if the roadster refueler will work on other vehicles?

                        Thanks

I don't think anyone has any experience with it because it doesn't exist.

By the way, the ecofueler doesn't exist either (except maybe a prototype). And, it's not a car as they want to you think, but a 'motorcycle' disguised as a car.

Their info is way out of date, too. SCGas hasn't required a separate meter in years. And it's been years since gas was $0.62/gge.

I got my NGV this week. So excited about it. What a big save on $$$! Do you guys think $100/month for 4 years lease Phill included installation? I need to go gas my GX every other day.
