Am going to be purchasing 2005 f150 xlt and just wondering How much loss will I get in power and what the mpg would goto up or down. Have been told that ng increases mileage but from what I've seen in forums it has decreased. Can anyone enlighten me on this. Thanx stu

The rule of thumb for a conversion to bi-fuel is 15% loss in both milage and power while running on NG. The last conversion I drove was a 91 Dodge pu. I am sure they have come a long way. dedicated conversions don't suffer the same because the the vehicle can be tuned to maximize operation while running on natural gas. the later factory dedicated Fords and GMs actually ran better and got better economy than their gasoline counter parts.

My opinion is the same as cngmike's. I've been driving a Bi-Fuel 1980 Chev Pickup since 1991.
I think I loose 15-20% horse power when running on Natural Gas, but 90% of my driving is in stop and go city traffic.
Whenever I need the extra horse power for driving in the mountains or towing a boat up step mountain hills, I just flick the switch to run on Gasoline.
It is real nice to driving around on NG, saving almost 50% on the cost of Gasoline.
