  • Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra could be powered by CNG & LPG by 2012

General Motors (GM) announces full-size pickup trucks may be getting a makeover to run on alternative fuels.

Jeffery Luke, Chief Engineer for GM’s full-size trucks worldwide, announced at the Detroit Auto Show that the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra could be powered by propane (LPG) or compressed natural gas (CNG) by 2012.
Natural gas-powered automobiles are looking more attractive to auto manufacturers due to the cleaner emissions they produce and the inexpensive price tag they offer for converting existing models of cars and trucks.
Some heavy-duty trucks are already powered by CNG or LPG, but support from GM could turn the tide to make more CNG powered-vehicles available to consumers. To read the full article, click this link.
