This announcement is a real game-changer to be sure.
    8,000 natural gas vehicles!

Anyone know how to contact the AT&T fleet manager?

Lets hope they will open their filling stations to the public AND maybe collect a reasonable profit, unlike CE.

Here is a strange press release from CE. They applaud the action, but aren't really saying that they will be participating.

            http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/s...r,746640.shtml

OK, now all you CE haters. Let's cool off a bit. At least it is possible that CE stations will be open to the public. If you don't like CE, drive right on by and get your fill elsewhere, but CE stations have the prospect of being open to us.

Let's all get on the same side and tell ATT that this is great, and that we want access to their stations...

Looks like they have not selected the conversion supplier. Here is the AP story.

"The company said it will spend the money over five years. While AT&T will buy the chassis from Ford, it has not yet selected a vendor to perform the conversion to natural gas, AT&T spokesman Fletcher Cook said."

If CE is involved in this deal they will be using Baytech. in Fords.

Now that's the great cng news needed every day!! One single company increasing the USA ngv vehicle count by 5% to 10% . . . . great!!!

Let's flood CONGRATULATIONS to AT&T Consumer Affairs and let them know that the cng community applauds their efforts. Also, ensure that they will be "spreading the cng love" across the USA (ie multiple states and locations that currently do not have a public cng pump) and OPENING their cng pumps to the PUBLIC to further maximize acceptance of cng.

"This is going to be a big momentum play," Boone Pickens said today.
"When other fleet operators put their transportation teams on this,
you're going to see a major shift away from imported diesel and onto
                      domestic natural gas."

He was talking, of course, about AT&T's announcement that it will
invest as much as $565 million to deploy more than 15,000 alt fuel
vehicles over the next ten years, including an estimated $350 million
for some 8,000 CNG vehicles and $215 million "to begin replacing its
passenger cars with alternative fuel models."

It "represents the largest U.S. corporate commitment to CNG vehicles to
                      date," AT&T says.

We had an inkling about the AT&T news as our March 9 issue went out but
no confirmation. We had no idea that the news would be this BIG. We'll
fill out the story in our March 23 Fleets & Fuels newsletter -- with,
we expect, information on how Mr. Pickens's NGV fueling outfit, Clean
Energy Fuels, will support AT&T's big move.

Make no mistake. This is an alternative fuel vehicles game-changer.

                      Best Regards,

Curt's post was from the recent Fleets & Fuels newsletter, who sponsors this News forum. I have been subscribing for a while and find the info to be timely and accurate. Worth the $397 / yr if you have a vested interest in alt fuels.
