Awesome! To bad they state no plans to produce the car yet. I will get as much info as I can tomorrow at the car show here in LA.e

      Some more clues...

Seems they might have put on a 3000 psi system based on the blue fill handle used in the photo. This might indicate Toyota is also targeting markets outside of he USA. Any idea as to who's cylinders they are using?

By zooming in on the photos I see they are Lincolns.

The most exciting thing about this is that it appears to have a trunk!

Are they still using a V6?

Because 31 miles/GGE is not that great for a hybrid!

Re: CNG Camry Debuts Prior to Auto Show

The blue 3000 psi handle probably looked better for the photo than the yellow, i'll find out tommorow when i see it at the auto show with Mario.

Kinda funny how my CNG Camry rims ( lexus rims) look simmilar to what they picked..

Those are 3600 psi cylinders. Chances are the people taking the pics. didn't know the difference.

They must be hiding more tanks somewhere if they are claiming that it has 8 gge.

Can anyone tell how many GGE these two tanks are? I can see that they are 3600 psi.

They look like 9.2X35 (2gge). I bet the "real" car will use custom size tanks with electric valves like a GX.

Re: CNG Camry Debuts Prior to Auto Show

I'm more concerned with how difficult it would be to replace that horrible looking front bumper/body panel with a stock Camry one. That thing looks hideous.

As for the mileage, I'm pretty sure that's about the same as the existing Camry Hybrid, which is as much about better acceleration than actual added efficiency. (33 city, 34 Hwy). 31 doesn't sound too far off with the added weight of the CNG cylinders, and a bit less power/weight of the engine.

Also, on the tanks, I'm betting there are a couple cylinders underneath where the stock gas tank was. This is obviously just a concept, without the solenoid valves, and no bagging/boxing of the in-trunk tanks.

I like it. The front end would probably be changed if they put it into production. It would probably be the same as the stock one. It would cost them more and especially now the automakers are not spending extra money if they don't have to. I would buy one, it's bigger and better looking than my Honda GX. If they keep the 4 banger I don't think it would be able to haul all that weight, but if its a hybrid it will have electronic assist. So maybe they can get around 180 horsepower. That would be OK.

Fuzzy, one of the articles has a picture that shows the tanks in the spare tire recess, they say 8 gge but those tanks look way too small for 8 gge unless there are more than the 2.

Well I just got back from press day at the auto show. The Camry is 2 Lincoln composite 3600 psi tanks total 8gge. The car was nice, except the front hood looks dumb. They said that they moved the air flow for the radiator when they covered the front grill.

The Toyota spokes models were nice, but did not have much more than basic product knowledge.

I have a media card with high res images a video on the car and a press release.

I did talk with one person who told me that they only changed the compression ratio and the timing for the cng conversion.
