City of Burbank Extends CNG Fuel Partnership with Clean Energy to 2022

Contract Award Calls for Clean Energy to Build New Time-Fill
Station to Power Burbank's Growing Fleet of CNG-Powered Refuse Trucks

Seal Beach, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2008) -- Under a modified and extended operating agreement, the City of Burbank, California has opted to expand its compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling partnership with Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE), and extend it through 2022. As part of the modification, Clean Energy will design, build and operate a new state-of-the-art CNG time-fill station at the City's Public Works Yard to support a growing fleet of CNG-powered refuse trucks.

"We are pleased to continue and extend our successful CNG fuel relationship with the City of Burbank, where we have provided reliable, cost-effective, environmentally-friendly fueling services for the last six years," said James Harger, Clean Energy Senior Vice President. Clean Energy built Burbank's first public access CNG station in 2002, and has offered operating and retail fueling services onsite since its opening.

"We look forward to the deployment of even more CNG-powered fleet and service vehicles in the City of Burbank, including more CNG refuse trucks," Harger said. "This effort will significantly support the City's efforts to meet its sustainability goals and reduce its carbon footprint, while enhancing both the health and environmental benefits of all its citizens."

Clean Energy (Nasdaq: CLNE) is the leading provider of natural gas (CNG and LNG) for transportation in North America. It has a broad customer base in the refuse, transit, ports, shuttle, taxi, trucking, airport and municipal fleet markets, fueling more than 14,000 vehicles daily at over 170 strategic locations across the United States and Canada. Clean Energy del Peru, Clean Energy's Peruvian joint venture, operates the world's largest natural gas vehicle fueling station in Lima, Peru. Please visit: www.cleanenergyfuels.com

Why too bad? Just cuz they are ripping us off for fuel doesn't mean they cant do something good. Getting diesels running CNG or LNG is a great thing. They have a similar thing going with Waste Management, my trash company. When they make these deals they install retail facilities like the WM one in Moreno Valley. Diesel particulates are killing people! We need everyone's trash trucks running on natural gas, then maybe our infrastructure will improve. Get all the school buses and transit buses too. Go for it CE!

Too bad, because most of the cities make a deal with CE but let CE set whatever price it wants for poor ol' you and me. Burbank, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, all have monopolies on CNG and rip off the public. If you can arrange your life to fuel at San Fernando or Riverside (or at home, like I do) then you're in great shape. Otherwise you're at their mercy.

The good news for those that do use CE Burbank there will be less traffic once the time fill station is completed. It sucks to be stuck behind a trash truck while it fuels up. What ever they do to reduce the traffic at Burbank is awesome, and with Glendales CNG station coming on line in April we will all see less traffic in Burbank.
