  • CE Buys Fuelmaker {deal cancelled 10/15/08}

Just run onto this article on Yahoo this morning 9/8/08. Looks like CE is getting into the home fueling business. I hope they bring the equipment prices down.

I hope your right, but I'm not overly optimistic... it could be that prices go even higher (replacement parts are already very costly). What I'd really like to see is a competing home VRA hit the market, then it won't matter who owns Fuelmaker.

Don't count on CE making anything cheaper. But they better figure out a cheaper system for Phill repair/rebuilding if they want to sell any significant numbers. The word is out that Phill is a very expensive convenience compressor.

OK, so what's next? Is Honda going to sell off the Civic GX to CE?
Now there would be a package deal for the (unsuspecting) NGV newcomer - not sure this would help our CNG world.
Only the most affluent could afford such at that point.

Unless T.Boone Pickings is going to make some real changes I feel this is going to be nothing but bad news. We shall see.

Ouch...ouch, my side hurts because I read CE and lowering prices in the same sentance together.

Looks like T. Boone Pickens will be on the Tonight Show, tonight (Wed). May be interesting to see if he divulges anymore of his plan and which company is next in the sites of CE.

                  Re: CE Buys Fuelmaker

Before I knew T boone was co-owner of CE I saw him answering a question someone had emailed him [paraphrasing] "How does one go about opening a CNG filling station?" he answered [again paraphrasing] "You shouldn't open a station until you know there is a customer for it, you should wait until car companies make more CNG cars".
In other words, don't try and steal my business.

We just don't know yet. We were told to expect business as usual.
With Clean Energy's backing we are hoping for
more marketing, more marketing materials and lower prices.
Clean Energy specialty is marketing and that will help Fuelmaker.
The rest we shall see when they officially take over.

                      reviving this thread :

i emailed Mr. Pickens the other day through his Pickens Plan website:

                      http://action.pickensplan.com/site/c...Contact_Us.htm

i commended him for trying to push wind energy for electricity and CNG for automotive. i also questioned whether this push was for personal profit or the betterment of our country / world, noting that clean energy is well known in the CNG world as the highest priced source of CNG. the purchase of Fuelmaker potentiates a lock on two markets, public and private fueling. my question to him was: if you truly believe in this solution, how are you going to use these muscles? are you going to encourage the use of CNG by reducing the ridiculous price of Fuelmaker products and/or become more competitive with other public stations? or are you going to continue pushing your agenda and monopolize all CNG profits?

of course, who knows if he ever sees these emails, but i highly encourage you all to send similar emails to him. CE and Fuelmaker under one roof could be a horrible development or promising for our future. i suggest you pose that question to him today!
