  • Utah Cng Pumps Running Empty?

I just talked with one of my customers who called back to say how happy she was with her Bi-Fuel Cavalier. She states the news channels are reporting many of the CNG pumps in Utah are either running low or are EMPTY

    Who could have forseen this

Ever since the 90th south pump went down, the Midvale pump sucks. I work in Draper and have to drive my 10 mile per gallon truck 20 miles to get 3 gallons of gas. That nets me a total of a gallon. Factor in the time, and I'd rather just get gas and drive in the car pool lane. They really need to open up the Jordan and Alpine school district stations. Attached is the link for the KSL article referring to the pumps running low.http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=3710794 I hope there is a solution soon. I can't afford to get a home filling station.

They are open. You need to read the thread "ALL state-owned stations now open to public (forms here)". I've been filling up at the University of Utah station for a week now. Plenty of pressure!

Well read the article on the link and that makes more sense. They have enough natural gas, they just can't seem to compress it fast enough for the current demand

KUTV (Channel 2) reported the same. They had a little spiff about it on the six o'clock news last night. Below is the link:

FYI. The first non-Questar fueling station in Utah will be in Tooele and probably should be up and running in a few months. According to a Questar representative, they will be able to charge whatever price they want. Good thing Questar is in the game to keep the price competetive.

I think it has been observed that news organizations tend to exaggerate issues like this because it makes for dramatic news. Personally, I've been filling my GX twice a week since November and I've only had a filling problem once. I've used the downtown questar, 4500S, 9000S, 7800S, university, park city, fillmore, cedar city, and st. george stations.

It is true that more often recently I'll get 3/4 tank (particularly at the 4500S) rather than a full tank, but when I think about 84 cents per gallon (or 63!), I choose not to complain.

I don't think this is a "glass half-full" issue, the glass is considerably more than half full! (i.e., we're in pretty great shape using cng) Of course complaining is easy and fun, but don't forget the essentials -- it's cheap, clean, and works well.

The real question is how long will Questar stay in the game? CNG co-op, co-op, co-op.
