  • Natural Gas Vehicles - NPR Market Place

    http://marketplace.publicradio.org/d..._independence/

"Bryce: Well, look, there are ways forward in terms of U.S. energy consumption. I'm a big advocate and believer in natural gas vehicles. The U.S. imports 60 percent of its oil; it only imports 20 percent of its natural gas. We could make better use of our domestically produced natural gas in the terrestrial transportation sector. I think that the market is already moving towards non-oil alternatives -- we're seeing growing interest in electric cars -- but we're only going to quit using oil when we come up with something that's cheaper, cleaner, more convenient or all of the above."

This is the story from 7/4/08

National news! I wonder if most people will pick up on this.

I read it but missed the one phrase 'ngv' reference. When it's that small and buried, please quote it in your message.

Yeah, I'm certainly glad I decided to just search for gas and read the applicaple sentence. NPR is bad enough to listen to most the time, let alone read through that long of an interview.

He give a 'throwaway' line about NGVs and then says "we're only going to quit when we have something cheaper, cleaner, more convenient or all of the above." Well, an NGV with a home pump is cheaper, cleaner, and more convenient. What is he waiting for and why didn't he make that point directly?

Because the average guest/expert on NPR (or any media for that matter) has very little clue what he is talking about, just that he knows HOW to talk about something he knows nothing about. All I've ever seen NPR do is put just enough near correct information out there to get the uneducated to start rumoring about something. Where do you think half of the 'Car that runs on water'! phonenom originate?

Folk's , the forum is for constructive purposes. Closing this thread now.

P.S. the link sure did NOT look like an official national public radio link.

P.P.S , The link IS an official link to American Public Media.

From the APM website. "American Public Media was launched in 2004 as a national production and distribution organization and has fast become the nation's second largest public radio producer after NPR. "

If someone can provide info about American Public Media and NPR.ORG being the same , please pm. Thanks.
