Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
It covers a range of symptoms including slippage and RPM surging that are related to internal component failure. I agree that sensor probably wouldn't be covered.

Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
I do not think that was an actual warranty but only to fix a specific slipping problem for the transmission. A transmission sensor went out that affected the transmission. They are saying that is not under warranty. Replacing the sensor has fixed the problem I believe. If the transmission does start to slip again I am going to take it back. But I don't see where the sensor will be covered under the warranty.

Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
Whoever owns the car is covered 7 years 100k miles for 2001-2005 GXs with CVT. If you paid for a covered repair during the warranty period you can apply for a refund.

Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
Do you know of any more details on the class action lawsuit and if all transmission owners are covered. I am not the original owner, so it would be nice to know if I am covered up to 100,000 for this transmission.

It's not part of the original warranty. I think it was part of the settlement of a class action suit.

Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
I guess I need to read honda's transmission warranty info. So far the transmission sensor that they replaced has solved the problem. Hopefully that will take care of it. We've driven the car about 300 miles now since the work was done.. So far so good.

Re: 2002 Honda GX transmission
Obviously past the 3/36 but there is a special 7/100k warranty on the transmission which might cover you.

2002 Honda GX transmission
Kurt,
I have a CVT transmission problem. I took it to an ex Honda service manager who changed the transmission fluid and said that I still had a problem with the transmission would need a new transmission. I checked and found out that the transmission had been replaced at another Honda dealership and that it should be covered under warranty. I then took the car to the dealership which then diagnosed that a transmission sensor needed to be replaced. The dealership informed me that the car was low on transmission fluid, which leads me to suspect that the fluid leaked into the radiator. (I can't believe that the first mechanic didn't fill the car with transmission fluid.) I'm wondering if the sensor should also be under the 36,000 mile 3 year warranty as well and also if the tranmission will act up after the car is driven for awhile and warms up. I hate to pick up the car and pay for it, and then find out it should all be covered under the replacement warranty.
Your expertise would be appreciated.
