There are various forms for various organizations.

1) There is one for the DMV (Reg 1000) for your clean air sticker. There are no limits to the number of Clean Air Stickers that will be issued to NGV's through the new Sunset Date (Dec 31, 2014)
2) Letter of intent to Socal Gas if you are intrested in a Phill.
3) Once you have a VRA , like Phill or a FMQ you fill aot the rate change request for SoCal gas.**
4) IRS Form 8910 is to take the $4000 tax credit. (Google the Form # to get the current year form.)
5) IRS form 8911 is the $2000 property refueling tax credit for the house.* (Same as #4 above)
The IRS forms 8910/8911 should be downloaded directly from the IRS website. They change annually and undergo revisions. This way you know you have the latest version.

* The property refueling credit was raised from $1000 to $2000 in January 2009 as part of the recovery legislation.
** If you live in a "Hot Gas" area and are turned down for a home fueling unit, such as the Phill, contact me. There is now a way to obtain a waiver from CARB. No area is now unable to have home refueling.
I have put them all here for you with the exception of the IRS forms, as they change yearly and your tax person can simply go to www.irs.gov and do a form search for them.

In order to apply for the California Clean Air Vehicle Stickers, do you need to wait until your license plates arrive or can you just submit the VIN#?
The Reg 1000 form has a box for the Vehicle License Number.

Is California DMV still allocating the sticker for the Ciivc GX's?

You must have your plate number on the form, otherwise it sits around there for 2, or 3 weeks and then they'll mail it back to you asking for the missing info...... Could have had the plates in 3 weeks. That starts your 3 weeks over again. If the dealer does a rush on the plates, you should have them in a week or two. Not like the old days where it was 6-8 weeks. Enjoy the Hov lane.

Here's a heads-up for California buyers.
If your dealership is new to selling GXs (like mine was), it is likely that the registration will be coded incorrectly. As soon as you get the plates, check the registration code MP. It must be "N" for natural gas. On mine, they coded a "G" for gasoline (just like they had for all the other cars they had sold in the past.
If you can, check with them NOW and save the delay.

It must be "N" for natural gas. On mine, they coded a "G" for gasoline (just like they had for all the other cars they had sold in the past.
If you can, check with them NOW and save the delay.

This problem comes from the selling dealership, more specifically the Finance Dept. When doing the RS (Report of Sale) they are putting in the wrong fuel code (out of habit). I had to train my finance people and saw the same error twice in 2005.

If this occurs, you must go to DMV and have a Vin Verification done to get it straitened out in their computers... then you can reapply for your HOV sticker.

Happened to me last week.

My dealer made the same mistake, until I corrected them. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. When sitting down with the finance personel, make sure they put "N" on the form.

Curtis, How many stickers should be on the car. I purchased mine used 08GX. There are only two, one on each side. There is not one on the back of the car. Do I need to request an added one or what? I did send the form to the DMV for the ID card. Thanks

I believe that there's 3. They are usually affixed in the wrong spots because no one reads the directions. I tried to reregister them in my name after buying my GX (used) but after many unsuccessful attempts to deal with DMV (no one knew what I was talking about) I gave up.

My suspicion is that if DMV doen't know the rules... Highway patrol won't know either. Ask the previous owner if he got a ticket with just the 2 and you'll have your answer. I've never met a law enforcement officer that even knew there was a sticker registration card that was supposed to be presented if you were stopped to verify the stickers, it's similar to the cars registration form.

DMV (CA) HOV sticker MP codes

Just bought an 09 GX today. Had a vague recollection of the conversation about what MP code to verify was on the form but didn't remember what it was supposed to be. I believe mine said 'O'. I asked the finance guy if this was the right code and he said that it must be and that the VIN would indicate it was CNG. He showed me that an accord he had sold earlier in the day had a code of 'G'. I'm concerned now that I see it should have said 'N'. Is 'O' for hybrids? Do I have to wait til I get my title and plates to change this or can I try to go to the dealer tomorrow before the paperwork is turned in and get this changed?

Go immediately to the dealer. If the deal hasn't been sent in to DMV they can fix this mistake. Good thing you caught it or you be in for a long wait to get everything fixed and would have to have a vin verification done at DMV. The form they screwed up is the Report of Sale (RS in car lingo.) and if they have to redo it... it's a big headache for them, so they'll probably resist mightily. Stand yor ground and get it done. The "O" is for other than listed and is not correct for this vehicle. See, if you don't get your GX from me... you never know what you'll be up against.

Usualy on Monday when they have paperwork from the whole weekend. Besides, the DMV girl never works weekends.
