I would like to add on a jack to use an MP3 player through my factory installed sound system. Where can I get this done? How much should it cost? Is it worth doing?

Re: MP3 aftermarket add on my 2007 Civic GX
I have a jack in my 2006. It is located at the front of the console. It takes a 3.5 mm phone jack. When the cable from your player is plugged in, the audio system switches to the "AUX" mode automatically. Yes, it is worth it. This was available as a factory option or can be installed after the fact. The kit is a Honda part--Curtis could give you more detail than I can about price and availability. It is something you can install yourself, it plugs into the radio and you would need to drill a couple of holes to mount the jack. Google it and you may find the kit at various dealers.

I installed something like this on my 01 and 02 GXs and it's really nice. It plugs into the CD connector (so you can't use this method if you already have a CD player installed).02 GX

For the sake of clarity, the Music Link device is necessary if you use an iPod. Apple has proprietary software that the standard jack can't translate. The Music Link allows access to the iPod controls through the radio itself. If it's any other player, the standard jack should work fine. I believe it was only offered as an option for the 2006 and newer year models.

As I said, Service/parts is closed today (Sunday). Use of mp3 players on Music Link would depend on the connectors, but I think you can ( I don't even own one) I'm not the expert there. As I said, call the Honda dealer of your choice, as prices may vary from store to store.

The jack I gave you the link to is the Honda factory part for your car--it is simple to install. Click on the link and look at the installation instructions for a 2007 Civic. You don't even have to remove the radio to install it. You can get it from this guy or any Honda dealer.
