  • NGV Owner Get togethers

    Let's get together!
It's been suggested that gathering locally, or organizing geographic groups would give us the chance to draw attention to ngv's, give us a chance to meet each other, and just have a bit of fun.

Camryman, one of my Antelope Valley NGV'ers, suggested a mini cruise-in type event to one of the Pamona Fairgrounds Swapmeets.

Let's use this thread to gather some idea's, organize some events and see if it's feasible to get some of us from different area's to meet up and caravan to an event, or just meet up somewhere like the car clubs do.

I guess this would be for SoCal members. Those of you in Utah and N.Ca (other states as well) can put up a thread for your area.

I'm going to add Camryman's post here (since I couldn't figure out how to move it).

Curtis, Locally here in LA we could go and crash the Pomona fair grounds classic car and auto swap with a fleet of CNG cars. It runs 8x a year and is really big.

The West Coast's Largest Classic Car, Corvette, Porsche, Street Rod, Volkswagen, Modern Muscle, Exotic Swap Meet and Classic Car Show held at Fairplex in Pomona, California.

I'd be up for this and Torrance sounds good as well. Another option is at Mel's Diner in Seal Beach (close to the 405 and 605 FWY's)?

I guess it really depends on what is central to everyone.

The guy who has the local Italian place, Papa Cicio's, is trying t get car clubs to meet at his place.

Sounds like this place might give up a free pizza or two to have us sponsor a gathering there...

This sounds great, and all of the mentioned locals are good choices, although Pomona is closest for me, but then again I practically live on the freeway so it doesn't even matter...

The Long Beach location sounds good to me, I live in Oceanside. But the other locations are ok to. I would really like us to set up a rally someday also. Maybe just one day for a couple hundred miles the first time.

You guys in the OC and LA ought to meet up and do a caravan to the big Cruise-In at "Thunder" in June. With a little planning it could be fun.

So who's going to step up and take charge of organizing the first one? I would, but weekends are my busy time and I've got virtually no chance to get out of here and join you.

Perhaps you could set something up in late May to organize the caravan to Thunder.

                        Curtis,

That is a great idea. A pick up location just off the the 405N would work for me. I did a ralley/caravan to Kentucky once, and we were joined by cars all along the way. It was great fun. I was refreshing my memory with the numbers from an old newspaper article that I saved and read that we ended up with over 2,500 cars.

There seems to be a significant concentration of NGV afficianatos in the Long Beach region. Is there a way to sort the member list by city or zip to identify & network with each other?

We just added a required field to identify everyone's state. I'll discuss the idea of breaking it down further to accomodate those who want to organize local events. I think it's a very good idea.

Why not meet at a CE station and "clog it" maybe get news media involved to show how CE has their customers over a barrel in regards to CNG pricing and monopoly.

A cruise-in to a restaurant or the beach or something would be fun. Pomona swap meet probably would not be a good idea as even 50 cars would be lost in the large parking lot of such a big event. We want to look like the big group not just a small group of white fleet cars with CNG stickers.
