  • 2009 Civic GX Mid Model Change

    Hi Curtis,

I am a new member to this forum and I am also in the market for a new Civic GX. However, I want to wait for the 2009 GX. As you already mention in your 2008 Civic GX Availability thread that the 2009 will be available in early September and there will be some changes to the headlights. As I understand it, 2009 will be the mid model refresh of the Civic. I was wondering if you also know of any new colors that will be available for the 2009 GX? If you would please post any additional information on the 2009 changes as it becomes available, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thus far I haven't caught wind of anything beyond the headlight detail. I will continue to keep my ear to the ground and work my sources at corp for any further tidbits.

I was told today at the Robertson dealership in Torrance that they are changing both the front and rear lights in the 2009s.

only a minor change to black, nighthawk black pearl, will now be
black pearl. hows that for minor change...
interior ivory will now be beige, just a little darker.
poss LED for tail lights. that's it for now.

I just recently 'discovered' the Civic NGV vehicle (been out for 10 years now??), and had planned on a Prius, but am 90% certain I'll be going w/ the GX.

In checking out the current '08 model, was very disappointed to learn the following are not options:

            leather
upgraded stereo (who makes audio systems w/ 2 speakers??)
            navigation
            keyless entry

Also, I'm not as surprised about this last item, but it would be nice if I had an option for some decent alloy wheels, vs the covers sold w/ the GX.

            Cheers...

It would seem that the crux of the matter as it relates to options on the GX is that, on paper, this is a fleet car.

It just so happens that tons of individuals want one for personal use.

I am sure Curtis can set you up with all of these things.....for a price. Or you could do it your self and probaly have much better qulity than the stuff with Honda stenceld on it. I AM NOT KNOKING HONDAS OME EQIPMENT!
I grew up in the retail car bussness over the years I have seen just about anything you could want added to a car. All of these items on your list has been added by people on this board.

That's good to hear. The reason I would still go w/ the GX is, at the heart, I want the lowest emissions reasonably possible, considering other factors as well. The options I mentioned are not show-stoppers, as, like you imply, I can have them added aftermarket.

Separately, has it been discussed whether there is a list I can get on to know when I can order an '09 GX? Looking to replace a '95 VW Passat.

                      Ronnie,
Keyless entry is standard, and the key fob is part of the key.

                          Ronnie,

Honda counted your ears and gives you exactly one speaker for your left ear and one for your right. (It's more like one for your left ankle and one for your friends right.)

I know what you mean. My '93 'Cruiser has nine speakers. It was shocking to hear the difference in the GX system. The GX stereo also emphasizes certain frequencies that the 'Cruiser doesn't. I can really tell the difference in a CD played on each. Oh well.

Well, fortunately we can have most of these needs met aftermarket. Upholstery shop, car stereo and tireworks will have my GX setup the way I want. I'd keep w/ the 15" wheels, as it's not a sporty car, so I wouldn't try to make it look sporty. Just some quality decent looking alloy wheels would be nice.

Keep in mind the TPMS when shopping for custom wheels.
