I came across a navigation unit from an 07 Civic Si at a local dismantler for a reasonable price. Does anyone know if this unit could be installed in a Civic GX? If it was simple plug and play, or it involved simple mods, I would buy it.

Re: Would a Civic SI navigation unit work in a GX?
Yes... and no. It would involve gutting the car, changing out wiring harness, Steering column & wheel, dash, console and god knows what else. A trip to the Honda dealer (parts counter) and they will print out a picture of the whole thing so you can evaluate the possibilities. It's so involved with the vehicle systems that Honda won't offer it as an upgrade. It would be too labor intensive to justify the cost. You, on the other hand can negate the labor issue... and possibly your electrical warranty if you screw something up... not that you would. I'm sure you know exactly what you're doing under the dash. Wish I could say the same, but being color blind means that the red, brown and green wires all look the same to me.

Pioneer makes some nice stereo/GPS units that look like factory equipment:

In fact this model has a $200 rebate available now on it. Amazon lists this model at $815 BEFORE the rebate.
If I already didn't have a Garmin Nuvi I would probably pickup one of these for my Camry.-------------

Re: Would a Civic SI navigation unit work in a GX?
I was at Al and Ed's auto in La Vern yesterday and the guy there said he put a Pioneer avic D3 in two 08 Civic GX's in the last month. They want 799 for the unit which includes + bluetooth and an I pod adapter... 250 to install. Almost a $1000 out the door which includes the rebate. The D3 is awesome it will play Ipod video to you nav screen and rear monitors. The only draw back is you can't use the nav and DVD playback at the same time. If you use the DVD for Video. You can get the avic D3Y for about 700 off the net make sure it's not refurbished and the $200 off is only if you buy it at an authorized dealer.

Some other good deals at www.6ave.com :
Kenwood DNX-7120 6.95" All-in-One Navigation/DVD/USB/iPod Control Receiver $968 w/ Coupon AFLKEN968
Kenwood DNX-8120 Navigation/DVD Entertainment System with Built-in Bluetooth $1188 w/ Coupon AFLKEN1188
Pioneer AVICZ3 In Dash GPS Navigation System $1188 w/ Coupon AFLPIO1188
That is the top of the line Pioneer. I was just about to pull the trigger but found out that Pioneer is coming out with a brand new AVIC-F series of in-dash GPS systems: http://gizmodo.com/382017/avic+f-hig...-voice-control
I guess it'll be a Garmin until the new AVIC-F comes out.

Re: Would a Civic SI navigation unit work in a GX?
Just saw the Avic D3 with bluetooth BT200 at best buy for $699 plus tax... no pioneer rebate at this price. $100 cheaper than al and Eds plus it had the bluetooth with this price
The sales guy said the older units do not have the bluetooth bundled with the deck and to be careful when buying. The newer units have a yellow sticker on the box and are all coming with the bluetooth for the same price a $120 dollar savings.. with a yellow sticker on the box..
Add a Ipod cable off the net for $15 or at BB for $30 for those who need the instant gratification.
Plus they will sell you the wiring harness and install kit for DYI install.
My Install quote by BB for my camry and 01 civic was just below $900 with the BB ipod cable. They told me my camry install was easy and I could probably do it myself. The honda is a bit more involved. needing a dash kit.
The new avic F is going to be trick but It's going to cost $1200, I just learned the MSN Direct is on the unit giving it real time traffic weather and more looks really kool. I may spend the extra $$$ just because of the RT traffic. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...+AVIC-F+SeriesLast edited by camryman; 05-11-2008, 01:44 AM.
