A couple of weeks ago, Todd Mittleman, Honda's alternative fuels PR specialist (and the man who hooked me up with a week in an FCX Clarity) asked me if I'd like to try driving to San Francisco in a natural-gas-powered Honda Civic GX. Todd assured me that it could be done, and in fact that he'd done it himself. It just so happens that I had a trip planned to San Jose, which is 50 miles south of San Fran (and 375 miles away from my home in Los Angeles). I did a little checking, and there are several filling stations on the way; best of all, they're along the scenic 101 freeway, rather than the dusty-and-boring 5.

Following About.com in thier Civic GX up the Calif. Coast
Hi CNGchat forum,
My name is Todd Mittleman and I am lucky to be working with the Civic GX in my role as the media contact for Honda's alternative fuel vehicles. Speaking of media, we just loaned a 2009 Civic GX to About.com's Aaron Gold, who is blogging and tweeting about his experiences. You can follow him at his blog: http://cars.about.com/b/ or twitter: http://twitter.com/AboutCars. I'm sure he will be full of stories and real-time updates on his journey up the California coast.
Todd
I am an employee of American Honda Motor Co. and my comments, expressed here, are personal and do not neccessarily reflect those of American Honda's.

Re: On-line Coverage of GX LA to San Jose Road Trip
I combined the two threads and placed this merged discussion in the Road Trips forum. Have done the CNG 101 route a couple of times in my 350+ mile range CNG Impala, no worries
Drive safely and by all means stop in Buellton for the bottomless split pea soup
