We took an amazing three day adventure and drove one natural gas civic to LA and bought 3 while we were there! We were able to drive them all home safely in a CNG Civic Caravan! We made fueling stops in Springville, Fillmore, Cedar City, St George, Las Vegas, Barstow, and Victorville.
Las Vegas to Barstow is a stretch but easily doable. Just make sure you get a decent fill with the 3600 PSI in Las Vegas and you should have no problems!
On our way home we were able to get a good fill in Las Vegas, after fueling each car twice and dealing with a police officer who believed we were "stealing" gas, because we were not Haycock Petroleum employees. This officer however, must not understand that the gas is actually compressed natural gas. Meaning, we would need huge pressurized takes to successfully pull that off! He also couldn't understand how we had a Haycock Petroleum Card in the first place. We explained its a prepaid gas card and we are allowed to fill there. He reluctantly accepted our explanation wondering if that was the case for all of the Haycock locations. (I am sure we did look a little suspicious with 3 newly bought white 98 civics with no plates!) So, don't worry its perfectly legal to fill with the Haycock cards, don't let any officer who doesn't understand CNG Cars tell you otherwise.
We knew we would need to get a good fill in Vegas because the St. George station closes at 8pm and we were in Vegas at that time. We drove fairly slow and were able to roll into Cedar City with our gaslights on. This, I would not recommend. Time your trip to make the 8pm St George cut off, we wish we had. Luckily we were able to fill in Cedar City and get home safely from there!
Cheers!
