  • 16 new CNG stations applied for in Utah Clean Cities Coalition grant application

    Hey gang,

Our friends at Utah Clean Cities Coalition are soon making public the details of the Dept. of Energy grant application they submitted last month. These grants are part of the $300 million DOE "area of interest 4" grants and are highly competitive among the 90 or so coalitions. Only a maximum of 20 coalitions are going to get funded this round so don't everyone get your hopes up, but hey, UCCC has a very good batting average in getting these grants for Utah in the past . We should know by late August if we won the grant.

The following is a summation of the grant proposal. The newsletter is attached to this post.

The Utah Clean Cities Coalition has recently applied for a Department of Energy grant under CFDA 81.068 in the amount of $15,000,000. This grant request defines the word “coalition”, as the 23 partners to the grant request. The coalition is made up of 10 non-taxable municipalities, universities, a transit authority and the state of Utah itself. Additionally, there are 13 taxable entities from all facets of the business community who have come together to work towards the same goals. This coalition will displace over 11,497,000 gas gallon equivalents of fuel, add 16 new CNG, three LNG, 3 biodiesel, and electric charging facilities. Additionally the partnership will upgrade 24 CNG stations to facilitate doubling fueling capacity.
