OK gang, here is the lowdown on station capacity. Divide the CFM number in half to approximate total gasoline gallon equiv. the station can compress in one hour.

This is interesting information but the other side of the equation is how much business does each station get? I usually fill at the U and I usually have pressures over 3000.

Convenience is also a factor. Visiting the Springville station is worse than a trip to the dentist.

As a frequent filler in Logan and Brigham City. The Logan pump consistently has better pressure than the Brigham pump. I see two compressor buildings in Logan and one in Brigham so I wonder what the deal is.

I love this capacity list. Just waitin' for the day when these pumps (and Clean Energy's pumps) will be internet enabled so that we can see what the pressure is (and price for that matter) real time.

This is great info. I'm skipping Fillmore and going to Richfield whenever I'm in that area. Does anyone know the capacity of the upgraded Cedar City compressor?

How does this compare now? It seems like Fillmore's capacity actually went down since the 'upgrade'.

Gov. Huntsman made a public announcement several weeks ago about upcoming changes to the Orem Sinclair location. Do we have any contacts out there that might be able to update us on when they might be planning this? It would be great to have as much advance notice as possible and some idea of approx. how long the station will be down.

The answer to that one is simple. Altitude.
You've got to figure that most of these machines are "calibrated" at pretty low elevations, not at 7000 ft. The gauges are designed to be accurate at sea level and they are off by a small amount at this altitude; the gauges read the difference between local atmospheric pressure and the pressure in the tank, like this:

PSI(gauge) = PSI(tank) - PSI(atmosphere)

Absolutely Bill! Except sometimes my dentist is faster. Although it is different with each attendent, here is the process as far as I can tell:

1. Park your car 75 yards away
2. hook up
3. walk in
4. wait in line (there is ALWAYS a line)
5. leave your credit card
6. walk back
7. fill up
8. walk back in (or drive in if you can navigate the 50 other cars in the parking lot)
9. wait in line again
10. wait for them to run your credit card
11. sign the slip, then leave.

Of course, you get to do this all while dealing with the rudest gas station employees I have ever met.

Wow! Kaysville to Springville. There's a commute that rivals those guys in Southern California. I assume your location listed next to your username hasn't changed.

I used the Springville pumps about 10 days ago. It is quite a hike if you fill up at the pumps at the end of the truck pumps. There was no line inside when I gave them my card, but the line after I filled up was very slow. It was about a 25 minute ordeal to fill up. The only consolation was that it was a good fill and they appear to charge about a penny less than the Questar rate.

I don't think 2500 feet is going to make that big of a difference. This week I filled up in Sandy, which has a middle of the pack rating. Right away I though I was going to get a bad fill, seemed to be running pretty slow. It just kept filling and filling until I matced my best fill in Park City. Talked with another guy at the pump who indicated it seemed the flow rate was dialed back, which resulted in a slower but much better fill. No I wasn't the only one at the pump.

Does anyone know if the Sandy station is intentionally set to run at a lower flow rate?

I also work in Springville. I've never found the employees to be rude. I'm sure they get tired of everyone asking them what Questar is doing and when. Filling up there just got even better than the full tank fills ....... the card readers are now hooked up and running! Just filled up without going inside.
