  • Utah County,s Emission test Info for CNG

This is the Utah County's Tech Bulletin that will be sent out to all I/M testing stations very soon. Good information worth the read.

I know that there have been a lot of NGV sales in Utah but is it really a "dumping ground"? Dumping ground sounds like some one is throwing out the trash.

If they run correctly, are safe, -- one man's trash is another man's treasure

But I don't want to see "Crap" on the road, there is enought of it.

This has been asked before, but what about all the conversions done under Option 3?? I think this will be a big issue as most who purchased these were told that they are EPA approved (which they were), but there is no paperwork or proof of any of this. I don't think these owners will just remove the conversions and go on with life.....

I would dig up as much information as possible on the vehicle. Try and find out which "dealer" did the conversion and when. Sometimes, people leave things in the glove box, sometimes you can find stuff on a carfax report, and sometimes you can contact the guy you bought it from. The dealer who did the conversion should have records of the vehicle (hopefully). If you can prove that the vehicle was in compliance with Option 3, then you might have case. If you can not find any information, then I think you are up a creek without a paddle.

This reason is the ONLY reason why I have not purchased a truck or SUV from Arizona (Utah doesn't recognize them as legal).

They did when I bought mine last year... Jump through the hoops, do what we tell you, we don't care if your car is cleaner or was converted properly...

Why does the EPA (Environment Protection Agency) seem less concerned with the environment and more concerned about all this?? $$$

In reading the tech bulletin, it looks like they are going to do tail pipe tests on all CNG vehicles up to 2004 and OBD tests 2005 and newer

There is a dealer in Provo who is selling CNGs with tanks that are about to expire. I looked at a 9 passenger that had only 1 month left on the tank life and he eventually sold it without telling the buyer that the 5 tanks would have to be replaced. He also has spare tanks without valves (open to the air) that he said he would install if needed.

Who is the dealer? If you post this info be sure to notify him so he can come on here and defend himself if he feels inclined.
