  • Did CNG prices in Utah go up?

I filled up yesterday (Tues. 8/19) in Ogden and noticed that CNG was $0.875/gge. Did it go up around the state?

It's only a cent and half, not a big deal, just wondering if it is statewide.

I filled up at both West Jordan and Springville last night (night hours for my son's driver's license--made a circuit to find some of the stations I had not used in the past). West Jordan was $0.875 and Springville was $0.869.

Filled up in Ogden and Brigham City today. Price was .875 The sign at LWs (BC) reads .879.

By the way, has anyone out there had other drivers verbally abuse them for taking too much fuel (I only got $1.13 worth of fuel in my dedicated vehicle since the pressure was too low). Oddly enough the "other" vehicle was a new import registered in August (likely an illegally converted vehicle that was just purchased by the guy, especially since the guy asked me to help him connect the hose under his hood after he berated me).

I wonder if the price increase is to offset the cost of people using credit cards when they could pay cash (obviously, unmanned stations are GC or CC).

I filled up at the state pump for granite school district #2 and it was $1.00/gge. Wonder why that is? cngprices.com still lists it as $0.85

I know the UofU station is posted at $1.00/gge but they are actually charging 0.850 according to the gascard bill. I suspect the same is true at Jordan (which reads $1.00/gge) as well.

Noticed the same thing at the WJ station. There is nothing on the Questar site about an increase. By my math it's 3% higher than what the price is supposed to be so I assume they are just adding in the credit card fee to protect their bottom line. That upsets me since I have always made it a point to pay with cash for that reason and now I'm getting hit too.

Why don't they do it like Maverick does, have a cash price and a credit price?

As an interesting side note, I went ahead and paid w/ my state GasCard. It was very slick. Asked for the PIN and odometer and I was good to go. Very cool! I saw on the state's site that there are car washes that will accept the card too. Anyone try this out yet?

Perhaps because the majority of NG stations are unmanned?

Doesn't apply, the increased prices seem to be isolated to the public gas station locations. Prices at state and Questar locations remain unchanged.

My point is that the station is charging the extra 3% to cover the credit card fees. If you want to go in and pay cash you shouldn't have to pay the extra charge.

I can speak for Granite and Jordan school district pumps, the only 2 gascard pumps I have used so far... The pumps say $1.00 but when you get your bill it is 0.85 and they tack on a 3% service fee on the total. You can look at your bill and see which stations you've used and what the prices were at each one. If they are raising prices, I won't know it until my next bill because they probably won't change the pump price from $1.00.

There are lots of diesel and one unleaded pump at these locations, does anyone know what the price is for those fuels, or are only the CNG ones opened to the public?

Only CNG is available to the public at these stations. The sleeve for my cards all have a sticker CNG ONLY
