University of Utah station down

I tried to fill at the University of Utah this morning, and neither pump is working. I called the number on the pump (which is State DTS) and reported the problem. They said they would call back with the status.

I noticed though that someone had turned both of the manual shutoff valves to closed. Since it didn't seem that anyone was aware of the problem, and since nobody seemed to be working on the pumps, I turned one of the valves to 'open' to see if that was problem, but the card reader still displayed "Faulty Pump, Re-enter".... I wonder if someone maybe hit the "emergency stop" switch like what has happened at other stations.

Still down at 5:00 pm yesterday.
Questar was pretty full for a while but not much of a wait.

I stopped by at noon today, and there were numbers on one of the pumps, making it look like it had been used at least once since yesterday. The other pump had an "out of order" bag over it. There was a lady there trying to fill up, but it wasn't working. She first turned the valve from "vent" to "fill" before she had turned on the pump, and this seemed to make it stop, (gas started to escape and then stopped) it then wouldn't allow gas to flow, even when she turned on the pump. She then turned the pump on and off (which of course made the computer think she was done) and tried turning on the valve again (this time nothing). She then re-swiped her card, and did the whole process one more time, with the same results.

I only mention this because there was a new sign on the pump that said something like "If you don't follow the directions exactly, the pumps will shut off". She even said to me, "Someone keeps messing these up, I talked to the tech on the phone and they said that if you did things in the wrong order three times in a row, the pumps will shut off."

I hadn't ever heard of that, is that true?

At any rate she left, and the pump did not work for me, but just for fun, I tried the pump with the "out of order" bag over it, and got a great 3500 psi fill . So I moved the bag from the working pump to the (now) non-working pump.

If it is true that turning valves out of order is bad... (maybe if the computer senses fuel escaping when the pump lever is not "on", it shuts down as a safety measure)... then I'm pretty sure SHE is the one who messed it up because the posted directions clearly state that you should FIRST turn on the pump lever, and then turn the valve from 'vent' to 'fill'. She did it backwards four times while she simultaneously told me that if you did it wrong three times, the pumps would shut-off and need to be reset.

I filled up there on Saturday 8/16 at 11:00am. I got a good 3500 psi fill.
