  • Pathetic fill at Tesoro (SLC)

Best they could do was 1/4 fill (~1500 psi) on 6/25 at 9:30pm. Had to go on to the airport to get a reasonable fill up.

Stupid question, where are the pumps at the airport? I've never been able to find them...
You can do anything except light a paper match, on a marshmellow, underwater!

As you enter the airport, turn onto the road that splits off to the right (3700W- labeled for trucks and air freight) before you get to the terminals; the turn is close to the entrance to the new parking garage on the other (left) side of the airport entrance road. Get onto 3700 West (it takes a quick right then left turn) and proceed north to the end of the road.

The station is on the left side of the road in front of the maintenance shop and across the street from a large parking lot for rentals. There is a barrier across the road if you go too far. The station has 4 pumps and accepts a Mastercard/Visa credit card. Ive always gotten good 3000psi fills there.

Was there some reason you chose to go to the airport instead of going to the Questar (1160 West 200 South) pumps about a mile from the Tesoro station?

Could be that it's about the same distance away and probably safer at night since it's right in front of the airport Police station.

I live in Bountiful; the airport is convenient access to the 215 Freeway and almost on the way. The Questar station is a pain to/from the freeway and involves downtown traffic and a bunch of stops.

All excellent points. Thanks especially for the directions to the airport pumps!

I've only had my Civic GX for 1 week now, and I already average 50% hit-and-miss on showing up to a pump to find it not working!

In the last week I've been a victim to:
Kicks 66 station no pressure one morning, 8am and already a sign posted that Questar had been called
Murray station card reader down on Sunday June 29th (before it was vandalized, and no it wasn't me!)
A complete waste-of-time fill at Tesoro on Redwood & N.Temple, barely half a tank after 20 mins.
Got my shiny new GasCard, but the Granite pump (3000 W 2700 S) has failed.

On the other hand, I've gotten two great 3100 psi fills at Kicks 66 and two phenomenal 3200 psi fills at Questar 1750 W 200 S.

The short story is, you always need to have a nearby backup station planned out, and should probably never ever let your tank get low :-)

Tesoro out of commission I heard. Any news.

I live in Draper and I work next to the Tesoro, with the SAndy station out and the Tesoro down, my CNG world seems to be crumbling around me.

I feel a little helpless as I stand on the sideline and watch the Utah CNG infrastructure strain to support all of us.

My wife went to fill up at one of the downtown Questar stations during the day and didn't feel safe enough to get out and fill up. (I think it was the station you're talking about.) On the way she stopped to ask a policeman for directions and he asked her what she was doing in that bad of a neighborhood!
