What was Robnholly thinking? Expecting integrity from a used car salesman, what rock have they been living under.
Don't they read this forum, "Gas War Profiteering" is the order of the day, especially in Utah.

Anyone remember the John Landis movie Slasher?

As a former retail salesperson, who had a few of his coworkers start a used car business, I, like you, am also amazed.

If you are planning on buying a car from them make sure you plan on leaving the lot with, when you show up. I was trying to buy a Honda Civic GX from them and went up to test drive it. They said they were going to send it to the shop to pull out the extra tank, the previous owner had installed, and would call me when it was out of hte shop a couple days later. I called my broker and had the money transfered to my checking account so I would be ready to move when they called. A couple days later I swung by and they had sold it. They said they had a nother one coming in from PA, and again said they would call me and promised they would give me first shot at it. I was following up with them a couple days later and they had sold it witout even calling me again, so much for keeping their promises.

To be fair, I do understand that the Utah market for these is extremely hot right now and I'm sure many people say they want to buy and then can't get financing or flake out. Still, keeping a promise to call and give someone first shot at a car, isn't hard to do. Failing to do so, only shows a lack of dedication to your customers. I was waiting for the call so I could get an amount to have a cashiers check made out to them, I told them this and they still failed to follow up on a promise that not just one sales person, but all three, Levi, Blaine and Marty, knew about.

So, if you're in the market, for a CNG car in Utah, and being treated like the 10K+ you're going to spend, on one of these vehicles, is worthy of something resembling customer service is important to you I would personally recommend that you try to buy somewhere that understands what the term means.

That being said, I know of a great looking Blue Honda Civic GX that is for sale, out in Tooele for 15K, because I just bought it's twin. Look for it on Craigslist. The guy who's selling it will at least keep the promises he makes.

**I don't mean this as a personal attack on these guys, but I'm admittedly very frustrated with their willingness to keep promises they make. Taking care of your customers when you're busy is critical, because they are the people who will keep you going when it's slow. I also want to warn other potential customers what they can expect when they deal with these guys.**
I know the Civic you where going to buy, they told me that it was sold. I tried to give them $1000.00 to hold two vehicles for me and it suprised me that they didn't even take my money, they just told me to write down my info and the cars I wanted. They called me when the first one came in and I went in and picked it up. My one complaint that saved me moneythe car wasn't ready and needed maintinence and that the car (98 Civic) was going to be for my mother in law( what the hell was I thinking) and since they didn't get the inspection or replace the o2 sensor I took the car back and since they hads already deposited the money they cut me a check -$245 for the write up. The next vehicle came in yesterday, they called me and described the vehicle, I passed on it and all is well. My opinion of Auto Exellence is they are a small dealership selling CNG cars for many years and now it's a hot bed and they are trying to cash in on something that they have always done. They could have a nicer lot and keep better records but they seem to be pretty nice guys. They definately need more help their but they try and it's to bad they didn't keep their word to you, but they did for me.

It may be a little bit more difficult to find a CNG vehicle than to just go to a dealership 30 miles away, but it took me all of a couple days to find a car I wanted and buy it by just searching through the classified adds.
I also recently purchased a Cavalier CNG from a listing in ksl.com by the owner of a small repair business in the Salt Lake area. Being from out of the state, I had to have a certain level of trust in the individual and descriptions of the vehicle. The individual had great integrity and was very honest in everything in this transaction, and even held the car for a while without deposit (his choice) even though other potential buyers were waiting in the wings while I worked through a couple of issues on my end. I am a 100% satisfied customer and had only to replace a fuse and reset a minor computer issue. I am now is driving what is essentially a new car on a fuel that is 1/2 the price of gasoline locally.

Thank you for your concern for my well being, I do feel better that I have potentially steered people away from your dealership and a potentially bad experience. Claiming that I "Threw you under the bus" or that I don't like Used Car Salesmen is hardly fair though. For the record, I know and like many Car Salesmen, of both the Used and New variety and don't base my opinion of a person on what job they do. I think your response only further makes my point about your business practices though, and I thank you for it. I'm terribly sorry if you feel that my expection of you following through on a promise you made is unfair. I think you'll find that most people are offended when someone breaks their word to them and if you examine your reaction, in a similar event, that you are to. What it comes down to is that you wasted my time and my money, when you failed to follow through on the promise you made. If you're not even going to make the minimal effort neccesary to keep it, you should've just been up front with me at the beginning and told me that you weren't going to call and that you were first come first serve. It's all about the expectations you set when you talk to someone. So try to set the proper ones.
