Are there any stations in Las Vegas that are open to the public? I'm plotting out a vacation trip and while cngprices.com shows several stations there, they all indicate needing a card key to access.

Would like to fill up the tank when I leave Vegas so I don't have to burn regular gas.

There are public stations. But you need a HAYCOCK gas gard. Check out this thread in the Local and CNG Sation section:

thanks, I guess I'll buy a card to grab a fill up while I'm there. Dreading the gas bill making the run across the desert back to oklahoma. No CNG for 427 miles (Santa Fe to Elk City)

The Las Vegas Station on MLK only fills 3000 psi.

I had problems filling up in Vegas and these
two 3600psi stations I have found the most helpful are:

The Romemus station as you said

City of Las Vegas NW Service Center

            Address: 2950 Ronemus Drive
Location: 1/2 mile west of US 95 / Cheyenne Avenue
PSI: 3000 / 3600 - Hydrogen and Hydrogen enriched compressed Natural Gas (H/CNG)
            Access: Limited Public Access / 24 hours / 7 days a week
            Payment type: Use Haycock GASCARD®

            Las Vegas Valley Water District

Address: 1001 South Valley View Boulevard
Location: Southeast corner of Valley view and Alta
            PSI: 3000 / 3600
            Access: Limited Public Access / 24 hours / 7 days a week.
            Payment type: Use Haycock GASCARD®

              Jen,
              A couple of questions,
The Water district station doesn't show up on CngPrices. When I drill down on the maps and overhead photos of the area, I think I see the station. It looks like it has 4 solar panel arrays 100 ft or so to the west, and there are 2, 2 sided pumps. Is this correct?

Question 2, I spoke with Heacock today and they indicated that they take MC and Visa. Does this station take these?

Question 3, Is this site publicly available 7/24?

              Thanks

              Chris

The solar panels at Las Vegas Water District are part of a renewable hydrogen refueling facility. Solar panels electrolyze out the hydrogen from groundwater and are also used to power the compressor. They use it to power a hydrogen truck as a demonstration project. The CNG station is next to it.

                    Re: Las Vegas CNG

The Las Vegas Valley Water District pumps on Valley View Blvd. are not open to the public according to two different people I spoke to there. The South West Gas Pumps at Tropicana and Arville across from the Orleans Hotel is being shut down as the Gas co. is moving to a different location. The reason I was told, they were made unavailable has to do with the patriot act and 9-11. The McCarren Int. Airport filling statin was available to the public when it was located in the parking lot for economy parking. Only tentative plans have been discussed about reopening. That lot has been closed for expansion of the airport and hense dismantled. Pickins gas co. has purchased the Haycock sites relabeling them as Clean Energy and installing new pumps, so far the two new pumps they installed do not function. They have 3000 and 3600. Usually the Remeus City of LV lot on Cheyene is not supposed to be open on the weekends, but I filled up this last Sunday and there is also a Hydrogen filling station there, it also has 3000, 3600. I have sbmitted a bill to our Nevada legislature proposing the state encourage and or build cng filling stations at stateline freeways and hiways points into Nevada. It has gotten some interest. The Haycock office on Bonanza downtown still issues cards as credit cards and cash card form. It is hard to get to as I15, US95 it sits under is being rebuilt. You can access it thru Main St. to Bonanza west bound, but on the other side of US 95 behind the office is The Clark County complex ( a sandstone pyramid ), in the south east corner of the lot across from the Premium outlet mall, between the trees and the railroad tracks, is the County filling station, 3000, 3600. This is in the shadows of the downtown hotel casinos on one side, I15/US95 on the other. This area is called the Spaghetti Bowl. I hope this helps to answer a few questions about filling in Las Vegas. Sincerely, tom, lvcng...

                        12 Feb. 09
Howdy, went down to the "A" street filling area today. difficult to get to with the I-15 widening goin on. Clean Energy pumps 3 @ 3600, one @3000 was working fine, takes bank cards, displayed $1.59 I think it was. The new handles are a little difficult to connect in place for my 97 E350, I had to turn it upside down to allow the lever to move for the arrow alignment. I was going north on I-15 and had to get off at Lake Meade east to LV Blvd. So, when Main and LV Blvd. split go right (west) to Main St. to Washington and turn right (west) under railroad tracks then left (south) to "A" st. and the station. I think for I-15 Southbound you can still get off at Wasington-"D" st. exit. Go under the Freeway, just before you start to go under the railroad tracks "A" st. is to your right. Passed by the County cng filling station at the County Govt. building (sandstone pyramid), it is still set up as Haycock, like the city at Remeus st., which had trouble earlier in the day. It would only pump a gallon and a half ($1.97) and the compressor wouldn't come on. Same thing that happened at the Lossee road site last month. I'm sure it is in the process of being switched over to Clean Energy. lvcng

                          Re: Las Vegas CNG

I just returned from a weekend trip to Vegas from Valencia by-way-of Barstow. The only public station accepting Visa/MC in Vegas that I found was at the CE station on Losee. Updated the price to $2.10.

Thanks to LVCNG for the idea about getting the State Legislature interested.
I have driven to/from LV many times and thought we needed a CNG fill station in Primm, NV (Whiskey Pete's), or Jean, NV.

Also, maybe the owners of the casinos there would be interested in having us CNG'ers stopping for fuel, food and gambling.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have come into Barstow CNG, with my low fuel light on for way too long. With CE adding 3,600 psi at stations other than Romneus helps, but when the traffic is bad, its still lots of nervous praying from the Calif Ag checkpoint to Barstow.

IMHO, Even if the CNG was pricey, $3/gge in Primm or Jean, its better than calling AAA.
