  • Station at Washington and A st. in Vegas?

Can anyone confirm the location of a station? The CE glovebox guide lists one at Washington Ave & "A" st. But, on the CNG map and price listing linked on this site, it shows at 300 W Bonanza Rd which seems to be a few blocks away. This station is about 10 miles closer to Barstow then the Ronemus station. So, if I am desperate for fuel I was hoping to have a closer station to hit.

    Thanks

I have Losee (closed for another couple of weeks) and Ronemus POIs here:
      http://www.cngchat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=870

... wish I had stopped at A street on my last trip. Will be there next week and if I get a chance to run out there I will get the coordinates and post them here and on the POI thread referenced above.

When are you traveling thru? What vehicle? If you are worried about making it to Ronemus I suggest you fill in Victorville, allowing the tank to cool as you get to Barstow, and fill there too. Barstow has always provided me with excellent pressure, with no worries at all in getting to Vegas.

        What vehicle?
        2002 GX.

Planning on trying it near the end of this month in conjunction with the holiday.

Thanks for the advice. That is what I am planning. I am a bit worried. If I end up needing a tow, I will never hear the end of it....

I typically average 28 MPG mixed driving in So Cal. 140 - 160 miles before I am looking for gas. But, I don't like running on "E" haven't seen "the light" for a long time.

I did find your coordinates for the other two stations. That's a really great idea. I am concerned about lists unless they are confirmed. Luckily I also realized there are at least 3 different formats for GPS data and found a conversion program to convert your numbers into the decimal format needed to input them into my Magellan.

If it gives you any comfort, my daughter has done this route a couple of times in her 99 GX, which I believe has the same range as your 02. You will be fine. Just take it easy on those uphill climbs!

Yea, I am thinking if I keep my foot out of it and limit the speed to 65 or so, my mileage should increase some.

I was at the Washington Avenue exit (called "D" streed exit when north bound as I remember" a week ago Wednesday. There was no gas! The card reader worked fine, but the pump was empty. There is a station across from the World Market Center just off Charleston where the city cabs and buses fill. It's a great station but you still need a Haycock card. I don't have better directions than that, but it's worth searching for.

Thanks for the tip. I am a bit concerned I won't have extra fuel to be looking for stations I am not sure of. But, maybe I can if I stay overnight or have more fuel then I think I will when I get there.

The D-street exit brings you to a homeless area if you make a right at the bottom of the ramp, D-street Ts into Bonanza. Its safe but probably fenced in and locked during off hours. Impound cars are in this area too.

If you make a another right onto Bonanza, and then a quick left onto F Street, you ll run into the Grand Central location. Its the red sandstone building in front of you. Turn right here and follow to the red sandstone building . When you get to the corner of Grand Central and Alta your first intersection, make a left, then turn into the property. It will take you around back about a 1/4 mile to the south end.

Here is a number 702-676-1500. This is for all city lots. I seen another at Tompkins where the city buses are stored, and always looks open. It is across from the NewYork NewYork casino west of the freeway around the corner from the In and Out Burgers.

If you head back up the D-street ramp you'll be headed to Utah on the I-15. A mile and a 1/2 up the road is the Cheyenne exit mentioned in the another post about the Loosse station.

Another CNG station is south and east of these Downtown locations on the 95 going towards Phoenix. Its always open and a 1/2 mile off the freeway east on Sunset. Going west puts you in a big retail area if your looking for a mall or major casino here in Vegas with off strip prices. City of Henderson .

Re: Station at Washington and A st. in Vegas?

Update to last post. As of July 22 the ramps at D street exit are closed for widening. Its probably easier to use Grand Central Parkway station. Exit Charleston West the second exit if North on the I-15. Although your not going to go west, the exit puts you on Grand Central. Then go North on Grand Central till you ll pass the pumps on your right, a few yards after the exit ramp.

They are accessible further down Grand Central. The median is being reconstructed for a new bus lane till 2009 so some of the side entrances are blocked off into the parking lot. Further north, down the road you can turn right into the lot. The pumps are south and in the back of the lot.

Okay. I am really confused. I don't think you guys are talking about the Washington and A station I went to... I could be wrong.

The one I went to was at the end of A street where the pin is in the map attached - as I remember it. I did have a lot on my mind but.....

I ended up getting off at Bonanza, turning left on Main, left on Washington, and then left on A - Yea I went the long way... The station appeared to be in a very large area with no gates that I remember...

The area of Bonanza and Main seemed kind of sketchy...

Re: Station at Washington and A st. in Vegas?

                        Your probably right no fence.

The intersection at D/Bonanza looks like Washington and A. Also the ramp from D St. exit, starting at the bottom of the page continues to Washington and A (the red arrows). I get the two streets mixed up.300 west Bonanza the wrong address is just south of Washington and A. Although I never been in the Wahington and A address, its further down the exit ramp for D street. The D street exit is now closed however and now may challege your sense of direction further. That area is the worst place to get lost.

All the land in between is fenced and bob wire. I always see this area as one big wasteland. If you turn right on Bonanza not left towards Main St., the next street is F or Grand City Parkway, not to be confused with Grand Central Parkway a inch out of view, off the bottom of the screen. There is a station on Grand Central!

Here is a photo of the intersection at Grand Central and Alta. Its the next intersection south of Grand City and Grand Central, on the other side of the tracks from Washington and A.

Those things are amazing. Mine is a portable unit and a year and a half old. You cant get lost. Id like to update the old streets though as now mine is missing a few new ones here in this fast growing city.

I relied on it for distance and time, but now I rarely drive. Ill have to find it charge it up and check it out for CNG stations. I never used that category before. If I remember right, it had a category for petrol. The software was licensed in England.

You would need to create a custom POI file with a listing of the CNG stations. They are not going to be there otherwise. I have a Magellan file I could share. But, I do not guarantee the accuracy. I have found problems with some of the locations.
