  • {outdated information - thread closed} Filling in Vegas - READ THIS!

Time to retire this old thread... with Clean Energy taking over the stations, all but the station off Grand Central Parkway in the county offices parking lot near Downtown is still run by Haycock Petroleum, and you need their card to fill up there. It delivers about 2500 - 3000 psi and the pumps are older 3000 psi only pumps. All of the other stations now take Visa/MC.

    Old nostalgic text here...

    Y
ou can not use a credit card, cash, or even poker chips to fill in Las Vegas.

The stations are unmanned, designed for government fleet vehicles, so on the weekend there is no one you can bum gas off of should you decide to not heed the following!

You must first obtain a pre-paid GASCARD from Haycock Petroleum in Las Vegas (Haycock manages all of the CNG pumps there). You can call them in advance of your trip at (702) 382-8559 and they will take your payment information and mail you a card. Or, you may go in person during business hours to fill out an application and pay for the pre-paid card. They will then direct you to one of the CNG pumps nearby. Ask for Stephanie -- she is very helpful! Note that the CFN card might work for fuels other than natural gas, but only the Haycock card will dispense CNG!

Our member mickey found the CFN card worked for him at the Washington & A St. station, details here:
    http://cngchat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1682

Get two cards, not just one! I once had a card's magnetic strip become unreadable and would have been stuck without the other!

Also, note that the McCarran Airport station listed in the California NGV Coalition Guide has closed. My suggestion is that you head back up the 95 freeway about 8 miles to a great 3600 psi fill at the City of Las Vegas NW Service Center. Take the Cheyenne Ave. exit, head west, and you will see a turn-in lane to Ronemus Drive just before the traffic light at Buffalo Drive. Head into this short road, veer left into the non-gated area, and you will find the CNG pumps on the left past the rows of diesel pumps. One side is 3000 psi, the other 3600. Of course, this is somewhat out of your way if you are just passing through Vegas, but by doing this you will be in great shape to head either north to Utah (in a Civic you can skip St. George and make it to Cedar City), or the other direction you are safe if Barstow has problems, as you can can make it to Victorville, where there are two 24 hour access stations.

I learned the hard way. Even after reading this post I decided to call Gascard and get a card that would work everywhere. They confirmed that it would also work at the Haycock stations in LV. I also called Haycock to make sure it would. When I got down there it did not work. Called gascard, they said they could fix it so it would and to wait a few hours.... Again, it did not work. The weekend came, Haycock was closed, I was not able to fill with CNG once on my vacation. Lesson learned!!

I think Haycock is owned by Jardine Petroleum.
If so it might be possible for those in Utah to easily get a Jardine card and use it in Vegas. Anyone tried this?

        1500 W 2550 S, Ogden, UT

        They also have locations in:

          John,

I called the Haycock Petroleum office in Ogden and talked to the about the gas card. They told me that I would have to go through their Las Vegas office to get the card.

The Haycock website says their site at 5775 S. Valley View Rd. accepts Visa - does anyone know if that's true? I'm wanting to drive from Lancaster, California to Park City, Utah this coming week in a cng Crown Vic, and don't want the hassle of having to get a card for one trip only. Cash or Visa would be sooo much simpler. Anyone out there around Las Vegas know if it's possible? Thanks for your help!

Plan in advance to get a Haycock Gascard. You have to fill out a application which isn't to bad. But then you have to make arrangemens to get the card. You have two options:

Snail mail takes 3-4 days? They don't overnight or FedEx.
              Or
Stop at their office to pick the card up. Open 8-5 Monday -Friday.

Not sure if these docs have been posted before, but this is the application and site locations Stephanie emailed me.

Heading to Lost Wages in a few weeks so I'm trying to get a couple of pre-paid cards ahead of time.

So I was about to get a card for our trip to vegas but, they want my bank acct, social security number, payment in advance!?
Did everyone with a haycock card give them all that info.?
If I pay in advance, why do they need all the credit info?
                  Anyone?

We can thank the 9/11/01 terrorists and the anti-terrorist legislation for this. It is all required because they are extending you credit. It's the price we must pay to fight those guys who want to both kill us and sell us their Middle-Eastern Oil.

                      Pre-pay rationale

Stephanie told me they need this because even though you pre-pay, it is possible to have a debit balance. For example, you had $0.01 remaining on the card so the pump authorizes and allows you to keep filling until you try to use the card again.

Hmmm, I got my card back in November and paid in advance. I don't recall what they asked for, but I answered all their questions.

The one thing they didn't talk about was my PIN! No one told me there was a PIN and Haycock didn't give it to me when they sent the card.

Don't forget you need a PIN and they may not send it along with the card (they didn't for me).
