  • Riverside low prices

There's plenty of information on the forum to explain the low prices in Oklahoma and Utah (you lucky dogs!). And the high prices from Clean Energy. But I haven't seen the story behind the Riverside station as the Lone Ranger, a dollar or more below almost every other station in Southern California.

Does anyone enlighten me? How long might we expect it to last?

      Re: Riverside low prices

Ontario, Ca. is still $1.72 the only problem is the pressure is soo low I could only get 6 gge on a near empty F-250 with 2 tanks today. Tuesday at 8:00 pm. the same story. The pressure gauge on the pumps all showed 1500-1800psi. The receipt dispenser was out of paper, and someone keeps leaving banana peels on top of pump #3. Joe

Don't touch those banana peels. The dispensers won't work at all without them

          Re: Riverside low prices

The city of Riverside website states the following (it obviously hasn't been updated in a while):

          "What does it cost?
The City of Riverside is a "Break Even" operation, and our fuel rates are very competitive. Currently we are at $1.369 (subject to change) per gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE). We are typically 5¢ to 50¢ less than other facilities in the area."

Sounds like if we want to figure out the profit made by CE, a ball park estimate might be CE price-City of Riverside Price, since Riverside is a break-even operation.

both The City of Riverside and City of Ontario operate on a zero profit and loss basses. the City of Long Beach did also until they turned the stations over to C.E.

Looks like it was just a slightly misplaced click on cngprices.com. Whew!

                  Re: Riverside low prices

Riverside now at $1.90, still lower than nearly anyone else, but I hate to see the price going up so quickly.

What is up with Ontario? I have never been able to get a good fill there. The price is so good, but last time I was there it stopped at .50!

I tried Ontario recently 2 Fridays evenings in a row, and got about the same, pressure was around 1800psi. I did talk to a GX owner there that said it is his regular station and has good luck, hard to believe.
I am damn lucky my local station (Hemet) is so freaking reliable!
Even when someone drives off with the hose, it is fixed within 24 hours!
I usually fill in the evenings after 2-3 transit buses fill and still get full pressure, they dont even mind if i cut in front of them cuz they get paid by the hour.

                      Re: Riverside low prices

I have gotten great fills at the ontario station in the morning. The problem is, in the afternoon and evening, after all the garbage trucks get back, they all hook up to the header and start geting filled up. The priority on the compressor is for the trucks, not the front station, so it will fill them before replenishing the fast fill tanks. In the morning, after the trucks have all filled up, the fast fill tanks are full, and the fill is very good. I get 3100-3300psi in the mornings. Not bad for a 3000# station. Especially since it is by far the cheapest gas around. (still 1.72, even after riverside went up to 1.90)

Wow, went to the Riverside station today.. price went up again, it is now $2.179/gge. Wonder if it is going to continue to rise, and if they are still running a zero-profit operation. Seems it is getting quite a ways from commodity price now.

You are lucky, it is still less than half of the price of gas. I am lucky too, the Hemet price has been 2.19 for quite a while now. Other than that, the only other stations with decent prices are Anaheim, Placentia and GG-CE but dont fuel there.

Ontario is still very cheap (cheapest in CA i believe, holding strong at 1.73)

Yeah I didn't mention Ontario because I never got a good fill there EVER.
Maybe if you hit it early in the morning or middle of the night. Even the one time i did get a decent fill there, I still could not make a round trip/work/home and back to the station. If it was reliable I would definitely use the station because it is on my commute route.
