Fullerton CA to Open Public CNG Station - Summer 2012

California City Adds CNG Station/Vehicles The city of Fullerton, CA is scheduled to open a CNG station in August that will save money on fueling Fullerton trucks and give local alternative-fuel drivers a closer place to pump. The city has received a $400,000 grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District and a $500,000 grant from the federal Department of Energy to help pay for the $2.4 million project. The city is using funds collected for sewers and storm drains along with proceeds from previous bonds sold to pay for capital improvement projects to cover the rest of the cost. Along with money for the station's construction, Fullerton received $50,000 from the South Coast Air Quality Management District and $150,000 from the Department of Energy toward the purchase of its first two CNG-fueled vacuum trucks, which are used for cleaning out storm drains and sewers. The city also used grant money from the South Coast Air Quality Management District to buy two street sweepers.
