  • New dispenser in Carthay Circle area of LA

I stopped at the 76 station at La Cienega and Olympic and was shocked to see a CE dispenser in place of one of the gasoline pumps. A large skid-mounted compressor and storage cascade are in a pen behind the station.

It isn't operational yet, but could be any day now. Anyone know if CE is doing this anywhere else?

My spy deep inside the C/E corporation reports opening is scheduled for May. C/E is ready now, but SoCalGas is not.

Any 411 on why they chose this site? It's in an underserved area, but it's pretty far from the freeway. And, they usually have a major user signed-up when they put a new station in.

Think they chose the site becase it is very close to but outside of beverly hills and all the CNG taxis could use a place close to this area to refill as a lot of thier business is started or ended there. As of Last friday it is still not operational.

Olympic station still not up as of today. Maybe they are going to partner with some gas stations to test the market. I don't see how they can get any large commercial vehicles in there.

I was driving by Santa Monica station today and saw 8 buses lined up to refuel (see photo). They had to modify the fueling area by widening the entrance to accommodate them. They have a fueling person who plugs them in. I guess the drivers are not allowed to touch the hoses. Maybe a union issue?

Actually the city of Santa Monica has its own fuelling station at 5th and Olympic, just off the 10 Freeway not open to the public where the buses and city vehicles are fueled. The recycling station has a private one too. The public station is east of that on Stewart, north off Olympic. If it was plugged up there, then both of the cities fueling stations were down. I wonder why, maybe they can't get parts?

I should have mentioned that these are City of LA buses, not the City of Santa Monica big blue buses. I don't know where the LA buses fueled before, but they are lined up every day now just off Stewart Street. Santa Monica buses still fuel in their own yard. They have another City fueling spot on Michigan Ave. by the garbage transfer site. They have hydrogen there as well.

It still had caution tape over it last week. , And no hoses yet.

Someone who might know works at the nearby Petersen Auto Museum. I don't recall his name , but was in an LA Times article a few mo. ago. Found a link http://www.newsday.com/classified/au...,6773428.story

Price will be the same as LAX.

I was at the station today. A C.E. technician was working on the despencer and said it may be on line today , but no guarantee.

The station is on line. 3,000 and 3,600. It's on the Olympic Bl. side.
