  • Poway and San Diego questions

OK, so I am planning to take I-15 all the way down to downtown San Diego from Salt Lake City. I have driven the GX into LA in the past but am a little concerned about hunting around for stations once we leave Riverside...

    1. Is Poway reliable? Is it easy to find from the information found in the Calf. NGV Coalition glovebox guidebook? Pressures?

    2. We will be staying downtown near the convention center. Where do you all suggest we fill on our way into town in terms of easy-to-find, pricing, pressures, etc.?

    Thanks!

Re: Poway and San Diego questions

I think Poway may be a crapshoot, It looks like it is quite a distance from the freeway, and I dont think it is open 24/7. I haven't heard of anyone filling there, I may check it out on my next trip to SD.
I have heard the station at the Ford dealer is good, but it is expensive there. Probably the SDG&E would be a good bet.

I had a user from CNGPrices.com tell me that the station works fine, but you just have to be aware it is only a 5am - 10pm M-F station ... weekends won't work. He said the people there were very friendly and the only odd thing was that the pump measured in Therms and not GGE. He said they take V/MC/AMEX, so you should be fine.

Of course, if you are relying on a station, it is always good to call ahead!

      Cheers,

There are sdge stations in miramar and clairemont mesa...I think both are open 24hours a day...I have used the miramar station at all hours...both take credit cards and fill at 3000psi

POWAY is down as of 10-5-08, they do their own maint. and they have a part on order. Be careful, its a little tricky getting into the station. They close their gates early sometimes. THE GUYS ARE FANTASTIC. They just raised their prices to $2.20 for 2 bucks. Better off going to CLMT. Only 10 miles down the road. Miramar is about 5 miles off the freeway. So you may back track or use the 805

            Thanks all for the advice.
I ended up going down to the SD airport Shell station. It was convenient with great pressure but expensive
