  • CNGPrices.com Garden Grove CE in Arco $2.25???

CNGPrices.com has an updated price on their site for the Garden Grove CE CNG station in the Arco station at $2.25 / GGE. Can anyone verify this? Seems odd it would be .50 to .65 cheaper for a CE station. If so, I'm having dinner in GG so I can leisurely fill my tank. Thanks,

I fueled up there this past Sunday and I remembered it was around that price. The price may have changed by now.

They probably have lost all their business to the new Trillium station in Anaheim which was 42 cents less than that station.
I may stop by there tomorrow and check.
      Competition is good!

Re: CNGPrices.com Garden Grove CE in Arco $2.25???

Confirmed, I thought it was $2.299 but it might have been $2.249. I had to fuel up there this morning when I had trouble fueling at the Trillium station.

In got a message from Jennifer about it this morning but did not want to say anything until I saw it for my self.

Since Trillium is still at $2.429 I ask Jennifer what Trillium was going to do. Hopefully they will match CE Garden Grove. Personally I don't see them having much of a choice. The Taxi drivers will go where it's the cheapest and that's going to be the GG station.

This just goes to prove what we've all been saying. Without competition CE will price as high as they can get away with. Let someone show up and compete with them and they drop their price to try to shutdown the competition. This is a drop of at least $0.60/GGE at one station. I hate to see Trillium get caught in a price war but someone has to do it and the state needs to figure out what CE is doing and rein them in. At least in this case CE can pull the same stunt they did with SoCalGas.

BTW, my problem this morning was that the fueling nozzle would not open up the check valve on my Civic. I tried both the 3,600 and 3,000 side. I drove to GG and it opened right up. I've had this problem once-in-a-while at the Santa Ana CE station. Normally just moving to another hose fixes the problem. Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Re: CNGPrices.com Garden Grove CE in Arco $2.25???

I haven't been to GG in a while, but CE stations are not all priced the same. They sometimes have an agreement with the municipality which limits how much they can charge the public over the actual cost of gas. My experience at GG was the pressure was usually lousy.

The gas pressure opens the check valve, so the likely cause was that there was less pressure in the system than in your tank. This would indeed affect all filling hoses at a station.

When someone first posted that price to the web site, I didn't actually accept it, figuring that someone made a mistake or was trying to mess with things (fortunately, that latter one hasn't happened more than a couple of times). But when a second person put in the update, I figured that maybe it was right. Glad to know that competition is doing its thing.

            Cheers,

It has been a while since i visited this station, but it is sooooo convienient for my OC visits, I went by there today around 7pm and got a great fill at 2.299/gge. They added a diesel pump right next to the NG pump WTF is up with that? There was a double trailer 18-wheeler parked blocking the entire lane on one side.

I filled up tonight, Sat 3-May, at the Arco/CE @ GG Blvd and Haster for
                $2.040/GGE. :-)
Lets hope this lasts and the trend spreads out to other stations!!!!!

Do we see an end game coming into focus? My dollars will be staying with Trillium.

I hate getting stuck behind the shuttles, buses and diesels anyway at the Arco.

                    Agreed, I'm sticking with Trillium.

This is typical CE. Anytime someone competes with them they drop the price at the station close to the competition but keep the price high at all of the other stations. The only reason they do it is to try and sink the competition. I'm waiting for CEs next move, maybe some "Legal" action to try and shutdown Trillium.

This should be proof to those in Sacramento that something needs to be done about CE's business tactics. I'm not good at this but could someone write a good letter about CEs tactics that we could send to our state representatives? Maybe just maybe this might cause them to act.
