  • LA to SFO without PG&E card OK? (325 mi range vehicle)

    Hi gang,

    I'm thinking with the 325 mile range (possibly 350) I could go up 101:
    * Santa Barbara
    * San Luis Obispo
    * San Jose Airport

    If before leaving the LA Basin I filled in Oxnard then if either S. Barbara or SL Obispo were down I am still gonna be OK. How reliable are these stations, and do they indeed take Visa/MC as per the station guide & CNGprices.com? Might be doing the drive late at night / early morning so if 24hrs is not true I would need to know this too

    Did you get a bigger tank?
    I have heard of problems refueling at the SLO station back in the Yahoo threads, but that was probably over a year ago. The 101 is definitely a more scenic route, one of my favorites for sure. As long as you could get fuel in Santa Barbara, San Jose is 280 miles, so I would go for it.

      I used the SLO station recently with no problem. They do take credit cards.

      One interesting thing to look out for, though, is that they had the 3000 psi sign on the 3600 psi pump and vice versa.

        The Garden Grove (CE) station was like that, the hose hangers were reversed, not sure if they fixed it during the remodel.

          Great tips, all. Will be sure to look for the yellow P36 nozzle.
