  • CNG v. gasoline

I am interested in buying an NGV (Honda GX) and would like to know what the fuel savings are compared to a gasoline powered vehicle, or is there really a fuel savings?

Mileage is the same in the GX as the gas model. Your going to save on the price of fuel alone and there are good benefits such as the carpool sticker and tax incentives for 4 years, I think? It's a domestic gas and your not funding terrorism. Are you going to buy a home refueling unit? I think the closest station to you is the PG+E in Cupertino. It's off of Homestead and 280. My last bill was 2.42 per GGE (Gas Gallon Equivalent) You have to do the math as regards to how many miles you drive in a year.

    Hope this helps,
    Anthony

Another benefit to Bay Area GX owner is FREE bridge toll during carpool hours. I commute Walnut Creek to Sacto and go across Benicia bridge without paying toll in the carpool lane. (fyi Prius owners must pay toll even if they have the sticker). PG&E price is now $2.60 a gge (June) - which is tied to PG&E's monthly gas price plus the compression, taxes and public purpose funding changes.

Experimental Compressed Natural Gas Service: Schedule G-NGV2 (Rates change monthly)
Schedule G-NGV2 applies to the sale of compressed natural gas (CNG) at PG&E-owned natural gas fueling stations to customers who use CNG as a motor fuel.
      PER MONTH PER THERM
      Procurement Charge $1.10203
      Transportation Charge $.93799
      Total Charge $2.04002
      Per Gasoline Gallon Equivalent $2.60307
Schedule G-PPPS (Public Purpose Program Surcharge)1/
      $.02173
Note: The gas procurement charge and total rates generally change on the 5th business day of each month. (Transportation rates do not change monthly.) See Schedule G-NGV2 for further details.
1/Schedule G-PPPS (Public Purpose Program Surcharge) is added to the Total Charge for bill calculation.

Yeah I knew the price was going up this month because I saw it rise at SJC airport. Just didn't know how much. Thanks for the update.
