  • Los Angeles to Hayward Road Trip

Taking my first extended road trip on Thursday evening from Downtown LA to Hayward. Planning an I-5 route with two fueling stops at PG&E fueling stations in Bakersfield (107 mile leg) and Los Banos (172 mile leg). Both fueling stops will be in the mid or late evening.

    Any sage words of wisdom?

In my 2006 Civic GX, I was able to make it from the Santa Clarita Clean Energy station to Los Banos direct. No stopping straight up I-5. I probably could have made it another 30 miles, actually. That was my longest leg ever. I left at about 7pm on Monday evening. I don't know if the camry has the same range.

Same here. 5 is fine if you get a good fill in Santa Clarita. I live in Sylmar, which is 10 miles farther, and made it from here (home fueled) with no trouble.

Great trip. Enjoyed fueling at PG & E stations. Excellent fills 5 out of 6 times. PG & E stations all seem to be off the beaten path. Addresses are accurate, be patient & scout around to find the pumps... they're just tucked out of the way.
