The Little City That Could . . . Grand Junction, CO . . . is pursuing more self reliance by utilizing both Solar as well as CNG. At only 59,000 population per census bureau in 2011, little Grand Junction is accomplishing great things.

Grand Junction water dept has installed photovoltaic cells that will cover approx 12% of their electrical needs.

For CNG, local gas company Encana Oil and Gas (along with Fed and state grants) has installed a public cng refueling site providing critical stop between Price, UT and Rifle, CO. Transit buses and other cng vehicles are enjoying the public cng pump.

Waste water treatment plant in Grand Junction is attempting to capture methane that is simply burned off daily at around 400 gge equivalent per day!!

Great for Grand Junction.. I stopped there on the way back from Vegas in Dec. The station was a bit challenging to find as the address is between the east and west on a street by another name. After wandering around a bit it was found and worked good.
