Researched this station prior to a really long trip we made. After numerous phone calls, finally spoke with someone about this station owned by the school system there. My information as of July was that this station had major problems, that there were no plans for its repair, and that they could provide no possible way to refuel a vehicle. Long and short--with a range of 500 miles, we still barely made it to Santa Fe due in part to altitude changes and to a very hot afternoon driving through the Texas panhandle. The Santa Fe station, run by the Santa Fe Transit Authority, is great--reliable and helpful (A little tricky to find). The Elk City station had given us a pressure of about 2800 psi. I've since wondered if Clean Energy might be able to help this potential route for CNG drivers by adding a station in Amarillo.
I 2nd that. Amarillo would be an excellent site for a CNG station. In fact stations every 150 - 200 miles along I-40 going west to CA would be a big step in getting CNG off the ground with the public.

Clinton OK super poor fill pressure, Elk City was a little better but way slow, I take for granted how fast and well our pumps operate here in AZ, but then again we are $1+ more per gallon.
Agree Albq hard to find, when the GPS says you are there turn into the ginormous parking lot and there will be a long building in front of you. Just left of the building is a gap, Go into the gap and make a left, canal will be along your right side and station will be on your left. If you are towing a trailer pass the station and there is a round a bout to turn into a little ways down.
When I bought my truck in July (From Phoenix), we drove it home. I filled a couple of times in Santa Fe, NM. Got good fills there both times. Other than that, the stretch was barren of NG until we hit Elk City.
Coast-to-Coast now possible on I-10 / I-25 / I-40 with Amarillo CNG station open
AMP Trillium 2438 South Pullman Road is set to open 21 Mar 2014. 289 miles is the longest stretch heading East bound:
(start) Riverside, CA
75 Indio CA
246 Phoenix AZ
116 Tucson, AZ
214 Deming, NM
157 Socorro, NM
76 Albuquerque, NM 289 Amarillo, TX
148 Elk City, OK
112 Oklahoma City, OK
Honda GX's older than 2006 with the CVT's can reach 300 miles using the hyper-miling techniques (lighten load, drive 50 mph and avoid headwind, tires at max pressure, wait a while and fill a second time before leaving). But the 5-speeds (2006 and newer) ought to be able to prove this route with some range remaining in Amarillo.
Re: Coast-to-Coast now possible on I-10 / I-25 / I-40 with Amarillo CNG station open
I hit Demming in February. I got about two GGE into my 18 gallon almost empty tank. Mid afternoon on a Thursday. Someone must have cleaned it out right before I got there.

So what happens in that situation where the storage tanks are almost empty? Does it put in what it's got stored up and automatically stop? or can you stay connected and slowly have your vehicle filled as it pumps back up the system?

Older station will stop, and you will need to wait and re-connect, Many of the newer stations will bypass the storage tank(s), and feed directly from compressor to you , so you get a complete fast fill, even when storage is drawn way down.
2014-03-22 post on cngprices: Amarillo AMP Trillium projected open date of July 2014, following construction to start in late March 2014
It would appear this opening will follow the 2nd quarter opening of the Amarillo Love's CNG station.
I am driving from Oklahoma to Calif mid week and called both Amarillo sites Friday.
Loves said that they 'should be getting it', what ever that means other then they don't have it now.
AMP said the end of June.
Thankfully I am bifuel so I expect to be running a tank and a half to 2 tanks of gas to get there.
