Tom at TGT is apparently overloaded with work. I called them last week about my F150. The lady who answered said they weren't taking any new appointments. She indicated they are more than 3 months behind. Sounds like a business opportunity to me.
Tulsa's CNG market is growing rapidly. Just since I got my truck in July, I've seen a sizable increase in the number of vehicles I"m seeing at the filling stations. Seems like every week there are more times when I run into new/more cars filling up.
Any entreprenuers out there who are ready for a start-up in Tulsa?
(and no, I'm not trying to take business away from TGT, just saying it appears there is more business than he needs/can handle)
The business has gone crazy in Oklahoma. The other Fuelmaker and commercial compressor dealer in Tuttle, OK is several months behind as well. A lot of fleets are converting to cng. I heard the other day from inside source that Chesapeake Energy is converting or purchasing 200 vehicles to CNG. They are going to offer their employees incentives to purchase CNG vehicles as well. Several of the universities are going to CNG or already have.

With all the new CNG vehicles coming on in OK where is everyone supposed to fill up at? It seems that every time I go to one of the ONG sites I have to wait behind someone already there. It's hard to believe that we have only 2 places to fill up in OKC. I know there's 1 in Guthrie,1 in Norman and 1 in Mustang but in OKC proper there are only 2 places that I know of. What's gonna happen when thousands of more cng cars and trucks hit the road here?
hey guys.. Just wanted to correct, Carter Chevrolet is in Okarche, not OKC... We are gearing up to be fullswing into CNG but we will be more into fleet installations for companies such as Chesapeake, DCP and state owned fleets such as DHS, ODOT, etc.. My service manager has his certification and myself and 3 other guys are going through the 5-day rules and reg's class and taking the test this week to become certified. We have installed 2 kits on 2008 Silverado 6.0's so-far from Impco (the second is being finished) and are also looking into a dedicated kit for Impala's which we should be taking install classes in the coming month. We have also partnered with a local filling station to install a CNG filling station in Okarche.
As for filling your own stuff, it should be economical to purchase your own slow-fill station at your residence so long as you own your own home.. Not sure how a landlord would accept it.
The infastructure in Oklahoma will soon boom, I'm sure of it. Chesapeake alone will likely be installing dozens of filling stations of their own and you can bet someone else will jump onboard as soon as they see a future demand.. Kyle
We are not necessarily building and selling them to individuals but I would recommend calling the dealership. I'm not exactly certain which person to speak with for an individual purchase. most of what we will be doing is fleet so we will not have anything on the lot for sale. Kyle
Rickinokc, There is also a conversion shop in Oklahoma City called Preferred Service CNG that is doing EPA certified conversions. You might check with them to see if they would installl your CNG tank. They have a web address too it is the company name with a .com at the end.
CleanFuel Conversions, out of Austin Texas is in the process of setting up a conversion shop in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Also, Ritchie at Preferred Service CNG in OKC.
I see that this thread is pretty old but I did sell a couple tanks to Ilan Cathey in OKC. I don't know any more but you can look him up and chat a bit.
The CleanFuel Conversions location in Shawnee is now fully operational and has already delivered several new vehicle conversions. We install Natural Drive, Altech-Eco and Impco systems, as well as cylinder inspections and system repair. Call 512-289-9799 for more info or to schedule an appt.
