  • Can I relocate tanks?

I have an old Questar truck with 2 tanks in the cab (x-cab, tanks are where the rear seat usually is). Can I move these to the bed of the truck if I have a cover for them? The tanks are currenlty side be side. Could I stack them instead (one on top of the other)?

    Thanks for your time.....

    dtbouck,

Yes, you can move the tanks to the bed of the truck. Just make sure that the brackets are still in good shape and that they are mounted properly to the bed of the truck. The brackets must be able to withstand a force equal to 8 times the weight of the tank (full of CNG) in all 6 principal directions with an allowance of 1/2 inch movement. Make sure that the vehicle to brackets mounting conforms to NFPA 52. Stacking of CNG tanks is permissible.

The tanks and mounts will also have to be reinspected, because the mounting of the tanks has changed as has the design of the mounting system,
