  • Anyone have the 2008 8910 and 8911 Forms? ? Link ? ? info ? ?

I would like to print them out to have for the CPA.

I know last year we got back about $4500 from the Fed. So I hope with
the Tax Cradit from buying the GX this year that will go up :-)

Thanks for any info and input.

    Social GX,

Here's the link to the IRS forms you want. Scroll down to 8910 for vehicle credits and 8911 for fill stations.

Access IRS forms, instructions and publications in electronic and print media.

    Best regards,

I don't see the forms for 2008 listed... did I miss them?

Does anybody know if the 2009 GX Models have been added to the list of qualified vehicles?

        Lady, et al,

The earlier link is still correct. If you click on 2007-8910 and go to the Instructions included with the form you'll see 2008 vehicles listed.

Good luck and note that not everyone needs to use this form. Some can simply note it on their 1040s.

Link no longer works. Did my taxes (mostly) last weekend and Turbotax said I could not file yet because that form was not available from the tax authority, and was expected 1/29.
My expectation is that the 2007 form is not valid for tax year 08, and the only reason 08 models are listed on it is that you could buy 08 models during tax year 07. The instruction part of the PDF

says the dollar amounts are the maximum credit allowable "through December 2007".

According to the website this is the list for GX vehicles:

I take that to mean that if you have a vehicle older than 2005 you cannot qualify for Federal Tax Credit. Since I live in UT I believe I can still qualify for state tax credit. When I registered the vehicle I was told that the 'guidelines' for lack of a better word would change especially for the clean air tags. If I had wanted to purchase them then I would have had to pay $95. She said the price for the tags will go down in Jan but also that some vehicles will no longer qualify for the tags and those with such tags will have to return them. She did not know what vehicles in particular because she had not gotten a list.

She did not say this but I heard somewhere (which means it could be gossip) that hybrids would not be allowed the clean air tags.

She suggested I wait about clean air tags and get normal ones since the price difference would be a significant difference.

Anybody have an update? I check the IRS site everyday and there still isn't anything other than the draft.

The IRS site is confusing. The 2008 8910 form is still not available for download but if you look at the list of available forms for efiling it says it is.

The confusing part is that it says form 8911 will not release until 3/31/2009 but it is already available for download.

Only the IRS could screw things up this bad.

The 8910 is for 2007, but the 8911 is for 2008. The date is in the top right corner of the form.

huh... well, it still makes you do the AMT form 6251, so it is identical to the forms update that TurboTax downloaded to me on 1/29 and thus I only get $3300 of the $4000.

Write your congressman. I'm writing mine for the second time. It's ridiculous that a large segment of the population that can afford to buy a new alternative fuel vehicle can't take advantage of the full credit.
