  • Bottom line cost on CNG home fueling in WA

Can anybody give me a quick overview of the typical bottom line cost on a home fueling setup for utilization within Washington State?

It seems that FuelMaker basically owns this market, and it's pretty hard to get into anything for less than $3,500. Am I mistaken?

The odd part is that I seem to find websites talking about prices of $2,000 or even 'mass production' prices of $1,000... is this just FuelMaker hype?

That's right. Any working CNG compressor these days is probably over $5000.

FMs initial target price for Phill was $2000 but it got delayed and delayed and more expensive and more expensive. And the dollar fell a lot (You know, they're made in Canada, eh?).

I was told by the Fm dealer here that the FMq-2 is $11k. He said he makes no money on them and special orders them from FM for the few customers who want them. There is no way I am spending that kind of money for an FM. It's robbery. I believe you may be able to find older FM for cheap here in Canada, as CNG is not even talked about her as a fuel anymore.

That's interesting. How much is natural gas (probably in therms) and how much is gasoline in BC?

That's about $1.10/gasoline gallon equivalent. If gasoline is over $4/gallon then CNG should make sense.

              It definitely makes sense.
