  • Cost of Conversion on 2005 Chev 1500 5.7 ?

Can anybody give me an idea on how much $$$ or place to call in Utah to find out what a N.G. conversion would run on my 2005 1/2 ton Chev P/U. I have a deposit on a 2009 Civic in Cal. but trying to run the numbers to see what would make more sense. I like the idea of having a larger tank capacity in the p/u but wont get the mileage that the Civic will provide. I'm also a little worried the Civic may never show up due to demand and limited production. Help or recommendations are appreciated.
    Thanks.

Welcome to CNGCHAT. I have moved this thread to service and conversions.
On the '09 civic , If you have an actual deposit , I'm sure you will get the car.

Did you get a price quote or agreement on paper ?

Thanks for the help. Nothing on paper from Escondido dealer just a promise from the fleet manager that it won't be over MSRP. I am 11th in line on her GX orders. Better than over 300 orders here at Garff Honda in Salt Lake.

Sounds like a good plan. I got my '08 GX in April and paid msrp.

My '01 GX is somewhere in SLC now , owned by a Questar employee.

P.S. Questar employees pay the same for gas as the public.

It is definately cheaper to go with the GX. I have been looking into the same issue as you have for the last few weeks now. It looks like to go dedicated on a 2006 (I can't find an EPA certified kit that anyone will install in Utah older than that) 2500HD 6.0 with a 30gge tank would be about 17,000-18,000and a 20gge for about 15,000. I will go with the truck mainly for the large tax credit, space, and bigger tank capacity but as far as being more cost effective the GX is the way to go. Check out gonaturalcng.com

The '05 5.3 L Chevy engine is not currently EPA certified. Baytech Corp. is considering recertifying the kit, but has not decided to so yet. I've been told that it is about a 50% chance that they will. The only EPA certified kits for Chevy are the '06 and '07 6.0 L engines.
