  • CNG not getting to engine

I just bought a bi-fuel CNG vehicle a week ago and have loved driving it. I have driven it about 1600 miles in a week. Today, I topped off the unleaded tank and didn't turn the switch back to CNG. As I was driving I noticed that I was on gas and toggled the switch before stopppoing the car. After a few miles the car just died. I pulled over and stopped the car, togggled the switch to CNG, then gack to gas and started the engine. The car started right away. However, now the car will not start in CNG mode. Any idea what might be wrong?

Check the fuse first. If the fuse is good then check the pressure transducer. If the transducer is not giving off the correct voltage the system may think that there is no cng fuel in the car and give instructions to run on gasoline.

      Re: ashtonmotors help

I have read some cng problems that you have had a coment on. try mine.

This Aug will be 2 years a ceo conversion kit has been added to a Ford 2001 Windstar van. The installer has driven and tested for a year and says nothing wrong. Not every day but on a day it stalls at 40 down to 10 miles pr hr coming up to a stop sign, cng stalls (not gasoline) loesing power brakes and stearing and on that day it might stall 2 or 3 times in a row coming up to a signal. seeing how the installer has given up What can I do to have a smooth running cng car?. thanks for any help.

        Bryan,

When diagnosing CNG problems the old adage is it's, "pressure, pressure, pressure". A qualified service technician should check pressures from the cylinder forward to the 1st stage regulator, the the fuel rail and finally the injector/mixer. That should tell you where the problem lies.

        1600 miles sounds on CNG???

        Good luck,
