  • EPA's view on SVO-diesels

I am curious - if the EPA is strict about your CNG conversion kit being approved by the EPA what is their take on veggie-oil diesel conversion kits?

Specifically greasecar.com (and others) - they don't appear to have EPA approval nor have I ever heard of EPA issues getting in their way or their customers' way. Any idea why?

The concept is the same: use an internal combustion engine with an alternate fuel / performing some on-vehicle modifications to support the new fuel type. Although veggie-oil is delivered to the engine through the original diesel injection system - maybe this is the different?

    Thanks,

    Damian

The question is if any tampering has occurred with the emissions system or onboard diagnostics (OBDII). If so, the vehicle platform needs to be certified.
