Just out of curiosity, what are you trying to learn? Most members of the group would have no reason to deal directly with these companies. A limited percentage of the membership, those in the upfitting end of things and a very few others might have dealt with a couple on a limited basis. So... share with us where you're going with this. There may be a more direct way to get what you're after.

Just like any other product on the market, CNG tanks have a history. I've heard rumor of some Korean-made and Argentinian-made tanks that have had problems. Purely a rumor heard from a CNG servicer.

When it comes to CNG tanks, this is the most dangerous portion of the CNG setup and the one that MUST be replaced every 15 years. Instead of just assuming that all tanks are equally safe and well-made, I want to tap the collective experience and wisdom at CNGchat rather than the rumor heard from one installer. Some of you are not just individual users with limited experience.

This makes some degree of sense. Remember that all tanks sold in the US are certified to the same standards, which renders them one of the safest components in the system. Foreign systems and tanks produced in less regulated countries are subject to quality variances which may well effect their safety. If you look at the historical record of tank failures you'll see that the companies which have their names implicated are also the same companies which have the heaviest exposure to the market through units sold to fleet conversions, which makes them statistically more likely to be involved in a failure. The vast majority of failures were due to accident/chemical related exposure that compromised their integrity. Nearly all incidents could have been avoided given proper safety inspections and service.

Re: Tank Manufacturers - Rate/Review Them

I am new to CNG, but I am the owner of a 2002 Ford E-450 shuttle bus that runs CNG. My problem is I am missing the tanks. I need to find out what tanks I need, I believe they are 14" around and 49" long, any idea's where to get them? Any help would be appreciated.
