  • MV-1 Taxi?

I've heard very little about this planned 2010 vehicle.
    http://www.vpgautos.com/

Some old articles talk about the earlier effort "Standard Taxi" for $25,000.
Anyone have any more detailed info about this and if it likely to ever deliver?

(Did find an old thread on this in the other cng vehicles section.

    Re: MV-1 Taxi?

    Tom,
I met the rep about a month ago. He said they are testing a few in NYC and would have some hard price numbers by October.
They're supposed to be assembling them in the AM General plant where they build the Hum Vee.
I personally think they're too heavy, homely as sin (reminds me of a more boxy Honda Element) and picked the wrong engine family.

But that's just my opinion. I also wish someone would have the stones to bring back a retro Checker Marathon.

    Now "that", was a cab!!!

Big, ugly, 283 chev ran forever, lots of room, and politically incorrect and great at the drive-in (if you can remember that!)

My dad had one come acrossed his used car lot (a civilian model) in the early 60's.

        Larry,
Don't forget the trunk that a small family could live in.
Would make a great place for CNG tanks and still have room for a steamer trunk or two.

It's offered in CNG. I have seen one in person and it's a terd. Will it ever come out?? Who knows, they are on the 2nd revision so maybe this one will make it out.

            Re: MV-1 Taxi?

MV-1 production is slated to begin next year at the AM General plant in Mishawaka, Indiana. "That's the same assembly location where the Hummer H2 is built, which makes sense since the MV-1 is based on the same GM underpinnings as the behemoth SUV."

Looks like a cross of a London Taxi and a TATA Suv
